I have a scratch in a new Ruger that is very light, just barely enough to be felt, but the metal shows through.  Sharpie fills it in, but the result looks shiny in the right light.  Anyone have any ideas?  I think I might try some flat black testors model paint.  The thing is, I live in a very salty humid climate, and I have never seen things rust so fast, so I need some kind of corrosion protection.

any ideas?

Thanks

Cold Blue

Oil the spot when you're done.

use some sort of cloth

If you cant find any of the products mentioned by others, use some Testors gunmetal mixed slightly with black paint..............

I picked up a bluing touch up - amazed they even had it here in town.  Thanks for the suggestions.
heres before:  Its hard to see, but the scratches were bright silver.

And after.  Customer is very cool, and didnt mind too horribly much.  We gave him a discount or the option for us to return it to Ruger for repair.  Ruger was going to repair it at no cost, but shipping would have been expensive and time consuming.

It's a weapon, not a wall ornament. Scratches give it character.

Ohhh! It's a CUSTOMER gun. That makes it a horse of a different color.

I know how picky some people can be about the flawless appearance of their weapons.

I don't understand it, but I accept it.

ETA: how'd it get that mark? slide down the wall and hit something?

We took it straight out of the box and saw it.  Theres an abrasion in the plastic bag to match.  The box is pristine, though.
