Does either one have their advantages? Any issues with either? Can you rent video games too, or is that a separate deal?

I have used Netflix for several months.  I don't have any complaints.  Very wide selection, and you can "save" movies to your qeue that haven't been released yet if there is enough interest.  When it comes available it goes to your qeue.
That was great when "The Sandpebbles" got released again.
They ship from a place not too far away, so I usually only have a one day wait.  If a disk is hosed, just fill out the online bitch sheet and it will ask if you want a replacement shipped out.  If you do, it goes out that day or the next.
They have an incredible library, although for some reason it doesn't include Hell Is For Heroes or Breakthrough:  SGT Steiner Part 2.  But they do have a ton of really obscure titles.
I'm sick of Blockbuster, and they can KMA (fees too high, crappy selection, "no late fees" except for the late fees, store staff that are total tools, etc).  I refuse to rent from them especially since Hastings is close to work and I can rent for a hell of a lot less, and get credit back for rentals that I bring in before they are due.
I don't know about game rentals, but there are some Netflix type Xbox and PS system rental setups.
I generally rent games from Hasting with some movies.  Most of my movie rentals are from Netflix.

I've been w/ netflix for years and like them.  No video games though.  I think there's a separate company for that.  Also, there's no porn.  Not sure if it's an issue, but there you go.

We have a blockbuster that's local and about a month ago signed up for their online rental deal. So far we've had no real problems. The other day I had a guitar instructional DVD that wouldn't play and was sent a replacement. They also have an online section where you can report any problems and offered a replacement for any damaged ones.

When I exchange the DVDs in the local store, they are immediately registered as returned so that the next batch will be shipped. It's faster than if we just mailed them.

They also have a very good selection of movies to choose from online and the employees at the local store are friendly and willing to help. I'm not sure of other Blockbuster stores but ours is great.

We used to be in the Blockbuster program where you could take out up to three DVDs at a time with no due date. I think we've rented somewhere around 1200 videos from the local store through this deal. In fact the reason we switched to the online deal was that we've rented about every interesting movie the store had.

Netflix is great. Great selection, and rarely do we get a defective movie.
(unlike in-store discs that people seem to try using to smooth out their supply of sandpaper)
You will need to re-adjust your immediate desire to watch a movie, but that's not a biggie.
If you do the three at a time, there seems to always be a movie showing up.

The only major downside is their online viewing selection sucks !

I have netflix. Here are the issues:

There is often a long wait for new release DVD's. i think the tops 15 movies in my Que have a waite right now.

The do not ship movies on saturday, sunday or holidays.  If you send a movie back on Wednesday, it arrives thursday and they send your next on Friday. But if they get it friday they wont ship the next one till monday.

By things like not processing or shipping later than friday morning, waiting one day to send the next movie, or shipping from a location other than the closest, they have been able to cut my "rentals" down to 3 a week. I used to be able to watch at least 6 a week. but now they deliberately slow things down. this is called "Netflix throttling" yes is so common they gave it a name.

I have blockbuster and haven't really had any problems. I love the in-store exchange. If they ever let me down I will switch to netflix.
