We used to laugh and make fun of DU because they ban us in mere minutes when we post over there.
But lately, every time someone posts something contrary to our beliefs they are pointed out to moderators in the team forum, and are called out for banning by at least several in the thread they posted in.

We are not DU! If someone says something stupid, ignore them.
But quit begging for Mod's to ban every new member that posts something silly/stupid/crazy.

I think these "new members" are just troll accounts of present/past members with an axe to grind. They seem pretty obvious because they jump into it straight away in their first post.

I have zero problem with the Mods doing their job and enforcing the rules - at times, I wish they were even stricter with that.

BUT...

I agree with you 100% about folks starting threads about banning this poster or that just for swimming against the tide - bad form, IMHO.

(Think about how boring this place would be if we all agreed on everything.

+1. I have no problem with outing trolls as long as its only in Team and not in GD.
Team membership has its priveliges.

Site Staff doesn't ban them unless they truly attempt to damage the community. Hell, they even get warnings here.

Sure, if you don't toe the line around here you get heckled by the membership. You may even get somebody to throw out one of those funny "Ban Him" photochops...but they don't get banned.

As someone who was accused of being a past member, can I just say that those accusations can be easily proved or dis-proved:
Ask the owner of the forum
Bottom line, the IP addies of people posting are easy enuf to trace (and I am sure Ed's got the program/capability to do so)
Now if these troll accounts are signing in on their mom's computer, or the one at the local library, that's another story...harder to prove they are the "unwashed" if you will. Let them amuse you until they violate the COC then BUHBYE.
But, for whatever it's worth: asking to ban or actually banning people who violate COC is expected and proper; asking to ban or actually banning people for an opinion that differs from yours (or the *hive's*) is socialism in its simplist form.
