Sitting at a bar. Haven't had tequila in years. Thought I would give it another chance. I just cannot appreciate the taste... And I have tried all different kinds.

Odd?  Probably.  I guess I just have taste buds for whisky and rum.

Anyone else share a similar feeling towards a specific type of liquor?

I know this is GD but let's try to keep the alcohol filled purse swinging to a minimum

Jose Cuervo crap or real tequila?  Try some Hornitos or any of the better brands.

I can drink cheap whisk(e)y.
Puke if I drink cheap tequila.

Still can't figure out cognac, and a friend just bought me another bottle.

I rank tequila up there with good whisky as some of what is best in life.

I cannot do tequila.  I've tried over and over and it always ends poorly.

I try not to drink cheap booze

I feel like I've tried the gamut. The aftertaste just reminds me of dirt. Again, odd I am sure.

I try everything with an open mind.

There is good cheap booze, and shitty expensive booze.
If you have to chill it, add ice to it, or mix it with something, I stay away.

I don't really drink booze at all unless its a BullFrog!

Liquor pretty much all tastes like fire to me (on the rocks anyway).

Beer on the other hand is actually enjoyable.

I'm the same. I don't really take shots or drink anything straight. It literally feels like my mouth is on fire. I also can't do any food remotely spicey.

Cold beer after a long day is very refreshing.

My life improved when I stopped drinking liquor. Still have a beer once in a while, no booze.

Vodka is unbearable. It's like solvent.

Can't do Jack Daniels, really the only one that I "enjoy" is Jager.

I love bourbon, American rye and tequila.

I like gin.

Canadian whiskey is okay.

I don't care for rum or Jack Daniels.

I don't get the point of vodka.

I hate Scotch and Irish whiskey.

Actually, my biggest problem in life is that I love ALL liquor, far, far too much.

I can guzzle anything, straight, from the bottle, no sweat, no puking.

I'm the opposite.  I can only have one or two beers and usually only have one when I'm being cheap.  I'm usually all liquor; most beer just tastes like crap to me.

Love Bourbon, Tennessee whiskey, most rum, and good tequila now and then.

Don't really care for Canadian whiskey, and can't stand scotch.

I owned 2 liquor stores back in the early 90's late 80's. Never been big on any liquors unless I was in just the right frame of mind.  Always been a beer drinker myself with an occasional shot of liquor to speed the process.

I think a lot of Bourbon guys get turned off to Scotch because some jackass thinks they will love Laphroaig, Ardbeg, or Lagavulin the same way they do.

Those suck for beginner scotches.     Dalmore 12, Achentoshan 10, Glenmorangie 10, and a few other Highland/Speysides are a good first.
Islands, west highlands, and Islays are a piss poor place to start.

All of them.  Makes me sick.

I would love to tip glasses with someone knowledgeable with good scotch.  Too expensive to just experiment in a decent pub to find you don't care for a selection, and most barkeeps around here think Johnny Walker is top shelf.

Most scotch I have tried seems scorched to me, and leaves a cardboard kind of aftertaste.

Gin is the worst
Link Posted: 4/27/2014 8:27:25 PM EDT
Anything flavored.

Jagger, schnapps, liquoures, I can't drink any of that shit. Tastes like medicine.

Can't stand flavored rum of ANY sort.

Gin or Whiskey is my favorite.
Can't stand Scotch, or Mezcal.
Don't like Jag or any of those other boutique sweet liquors.
Most every thing else is good to go.

Give me my bourbon and whiskey.

Another vote for gin, and Cuervo to me tastes like whiskey that has been filtered through dirty gym socks.
