5-7 years ago there was a good mix of techno, alternative rock, and some rap in radio stations.

Now all the fuck I hear is rap, r&b, soul, and fucking hip hop.

What the hell?

Why does anyone still listen to FM radio?

Link Posted: 12/2/2007 12:34:41 PM EDT
The companies that own radio stations are in a conspiracy to destroy radio. The music is crap, endlessly repeated, and most of it is ads or moronic DJs that need to be strangled.

XM Radio only. Home and vehicle(s)
FM blows these days...

I don't listen to any "music" or "singing" that requires back-up dancers.
Link Posted: 12/2/2007 12:38:04 PM EDT
I agree 100%.

Hip hop has really fallen off, it's too ghetto now and some of the songs are just too stupid to listen to.

Then I turn to the rock station, and it is full of tight pants and make up wearing faggots. Was there a law passed recently that mandates all rock bands to look like emo fairies?

Sirius or XM will solve your problem.

I only listen to talk radio on AM. If I want music then I listen to Itunes, my Ipod or Youtube.
Link Posted: 12/2/2007 12:52:20 PM EDT
Listen to XM.

There you go.

The best radio by far is small town radio. Especially if you like country music. Something like 4 commercials and hour and they play random songs, not just the same 20. I've basically stopped listening to anything made after 2002 or so. It's that bad.

Why let clearchannel tell you what you want to hear?

Internet, .mp3's, satellite radio, there's really no reason to listen to a radio. I don't.
Link Posted: 12/2/2007 1:06:47 PM EDT
I listen to 80's or classic rock and/or talk radio. Music started to suck big time starting in the mid 90's
Link Posted: 12/2/2007 2:11:03 PM EDT
I was in Sports Authority last week, to check out their "15% off ammo" ad. (Jack up the price 50%, then mark it down 15%. No bargains there.) Anyway, the whole time I was there, they assaulted me with hip-hop Christmas carols. Frosty the Snowman, yo yo yo. Gag!

I'll add that some of the best music I have heard as of late has been by independent artists who put their music online to be downloaded for free.

A few years ago, I started becoming disillusioned with FM radio. Talented artists were on a decline; while trashy, mass produced pop music was on the rise. When it got to the point where I could no longer differentiate between bands on the local rock station(I gave up on the rap stations long before this), I just stopped listening to the radio altogether.

There is still good music out there - it's just a matter of looking past the shit being thrown at you. For me it's XM(Serius will work just as well), mp3 files and all my old CDs ripped into mp3 format.

Ditto. & 99.9% of any new music in the last 10 years is total shit. I would rather listen to road noise in my car. If it weren't for sateliite & CD's, I would go nuts. FM is going the way of the 8 track tape.
Link Posted: 12/2/2007 4:58:42 PM EDT
I mainly listen to a local morning show (talk) on my way to work, and sports radio on my way home from work.

I rarely listen to FM music anymore because like many have already said, FM music mostly sucks.

I find myself increasingly tuning to the classic country station. At least until I get my Sirius installed.

XM

Don't even have to put up with rap in comercials.

I feel fortunate that there is 3 great radio stations in the area here

1 is only newer rock and some very good classic rock , used to be a clear channel station had some sort of coup and are not locally owned

www.kibz.com/ they have some NSFW content

2nd is a classic rock station but plays up to late 90s stuff again locally owned ( I think the same local company) www.ktgl.com/ again a little NSFW

the third is a college station that plays about everything but country
www.897theriver.com/

they mercifully keep their rap and techno limited to specific nights

+ 1 for sirius

Country music has gone to hell.

Most of the new stuff is cornball garbage.

FM Radio died over 20 years ago on February 14, 1987, the Valentine's Day Massacre.

Long live KMET, the MIGHTY MET!!

There is only one radio station with one show that still plays music, and that's Jim Ladds show on KLOS.

Music in America is experiencing a dysgenic de-evolution.
Link Posted: 12/2/2007 7:29:12 PM EDT
I listen to either my local Classic Country station (WIRL 1290AM-they have a live feed on the net here) or the classical music station when National People's Radio isn't on. The current music scene sucks ass.

Another vote for satellite radio. I have been an XM subscriber for over a year and I love it.
Link Posted: 12/2/2007 7:38:56 PM EDT
I just listen to my iPod.

I hate hearing Tom Shanes voice so I stopped listening to radio.

You're listening to the wrong stuff or the stations are crap.

I listen to the local classic rock station(97.1 for the Chicago crew) and don't hear the same thing twice.

The local "mix" station plays stuff twice in one day.

There is music played? Hell, I thought every station around here was always having a commercial marathon.
I said screw it and bought a new radio that I can hook up my ipod to. No more commercials or annoying DJs babbling on about stupid shit that pops into their minds.

The 6 stations I have programmed are:

Classic rock: 1
Country: 3
Rock: 2

Theres not that many more stations around but I spose 1 or 2 of those remaining ones could be rap/hip hop.
