Anyone else get PO'ed when you sit down to watch an interesting-sounding documentary and the damn narrator is Morgan Freeman?

Seriously - I can't understand 80% of what that guy says! He freaking ruined the Batman movies before me because I had to pause and rewind most of his scenes.

You're just jealous because at 72 he can get 27 year old women...even though it is his step-granddaughter.

I like listening to the man talk.
He and James Earl Jones have commanding voices and an eloquent manner of speaking.

+1 I think he is an excellent narrator

Well then, that settles it - I guess it's just me.

If I had the money, I would pay Morgan Freeman to read me a bedtime story every night.

Dude, Morgan Freeman makes every movie better, especially documentaries. The narration in his dulcet voice is so soothing, you just want to lay back and let him explain the entire universe to you. Matter of fact, I think there's a TV show with that exact premise.
Link Posted: 9/8/2010 6:37:42 PM EST
Ah, PA.

I understand now.

He reminds me of a wine-o. I prefer Morgan Fairchild.

I have never seen him in a part I didn't like. He even makes shitty movies better (I just finished watching "Deep Impact").

Give me something interesting to play and I'm happy.

If Morgan Freeman read Atlas Shruged to Obama. We'd have a Black Reagan.

I don't remember his voice in Dawn of the Dead 2004.

Which documentary were you watching?
Link Posted: 9/8/2010 10:29:32 PM EST
It's just you. Him and James Earl Jones could read stereo instructions and it would sound awesome.

this. Seriously, if you can't understand Morgan Freeman do not travel outside your village, the vastness of accents from the land of the US will overwhelm you.

Definitely just you. Morgan Freeman turns everything he touches into gold.

I hate his narrations.

Not because i have a problem with him but because i like narrators to be anonymous ad when i hear his voice i am forced to picture him telling me the story rather than having the narration just seem like background.

Morgan Freeman has a very soothing voice and I've never had any problem understanding him.

Here's a hint: He wouldn't be such a popular narrator if the average person couldn't understand the words that are coming out of his mouth.

Not sure if I'd go that far. Having a grown man talking to me while I'm trying to sleep? I'd respectfully ask him to GTFO. Perhaps provide narration for the everyday shit I do.

I agree, no matter who famous it is.

Never had a problem understanding him though.

Not the best, but better than most.

This I agree with.

I think Morgan Freeman should have been the first Black President. Liberal, or not - at least he has more experience than obama.

Link Posted: 9/9/2010 1:48:35 AM EST
For those of you comparing Morgan Freeman to James Earl Jones, get a grip. They are nothing alike. Jones has a clear, stately voice, while Freeman has an almost Geechee accent. He is nowhere near the class of narrator James Earl Jones and Keith David are.

That's funny. Listen - I was in the Army, so I've heard nearly every accent our country has to offer. You could put me in a room with five black guys from down south and I will tell you which one is from where.

Language and linguistics has always been an interest of mine and an area I know a thing or two about, so this isn't a matter of some untraveled rube who can't understand people who don't talk exactly like he does. I have objectively formed the opinion that Morgan Freeman's speech is not clear and he is not an enjoyable narrator to listen to.

AY! OH! Now we're talkin'!

I'm going to add this to my list of "87 things I know about Arfcom."

#32 - the Hive loves Morgan Freeman's mumbly voice.

PS - you guys also think Julia Roberts is hot, right?

Any movie that man is in. It's usually great. So, to sum this up...turn your hearing aid up.

He is, but check out Farce of the Penguins, narrated by Samuel L Jackson. It kind of makes fun of Freeman and let's Jackson be, well.....Jackson. It's a fucking riot.
