My Mom has half of a duplex, and the owner of the other half rented it to three of what used to be called "unwed mothers" --now known as "baby mommas". They promptly turned the place into a flophouse for whatever guys were laying pipe to them and started an extensive garbage collection. Yep, you guessed it: Mom soon had cockroaches.

She got an exterminator in two or three times, but was told that nothing was going to fix it as long as the mess was next door. She called the owner but he refused to do anything about it, so she went to code enforcement. That did the trick. The baby mommas were tossed out but tragically had to leave behind their valuable garbage collection... The owner sent a work crew to clean the house out, and when their big console TV was brought out on the front lawn, cockroaches started teeming out of it like rats leaving a sinking ship.
