Yeah, I have a feeling I might get myself into some trouble while I'm there.

I know a couple. They're crazier than crazy, and get worse as they age. You have been warned.

Where were you before I married one

OP- get out to the country side. Anything outside of the capital is completely different. You will run into the small villages that still do the traditional Romanian thing, drink, eat and dance all night . Avoid the gypsies, they are noticeable different than the Romanians. They are not your friends and will rob you blind. If someone is wearing to much gold/jewelry and has an dark "Indian" type complexion, just leave. If you are going to the Black Sea, you will have a blast. I really dont know any areas by name, as we havent been yet. But according to the Mrs. its fun everywhere. Enjoy the USD to LEI conversion, beer is cheap!

I probably wont be able to get to the country side.  I will only be in Bucharest - (Old Town area) and Mamaia which is on the Black Sea, so I'm hoping for a good time.

Good advice on the gypsies, I will stick out big time and I'm sure I'll be a target for all kinds of scams.

I had two Romanian strippers at my bachelor party in Toronto. The younger one was physically perfect. Body of an Olympic athlete, face of an angel.

Eyes of a King Cobra.

Dead, dark, million-mile-deep eyes that said "I guess I'll give you a lapdance but I'd just as soon kill you and sell your organs".

She was cool, but as beautiful as she was the thing I remember are those assasin's eyes.

Not often I have a butt naked 90-pound girl wriggling on my lap, and the first thing is think is "I hope she doesn't kill me".

Not all Romanians talk with the Dracula accent. Kind of like not all Americans have a Southern accent.
Have a fun trip.

Also, when you are drinking with Romanians, they keep pouring. The more you drink the more they poor. They are not forcing you,  just being polite in their way. You have to nicely tell them your done, otherwise you wake up in a field, in someone's else clothes.

Women; 16 and younger wear thongs. Don't be the perverted tourist, as easy as that is to be. Romania, like Europe is not as conservative as we in the US, you might be drinking/flirting with girls at the bar and next thing you know their older brother is coming to get them. Why you ask, because they are 15. Most speak English or really want to practice speaking English so you will be good. Also, lots of British vacation there too, they will be the only ones to out spend you at the bar

Romania?  No.  On the other side of the Danube in Ruse, Bulgaria.  Stayed in The Odyssey hotel that was decorated with nekked women pics.  Framed, like art.  Had to cover them up because wife and kids.

We walked down to the river, which made our Bulgarian guide visably nervous.

Good tips and as long as they are paying for the drinks,  I will keep drinking them.

Bucharest is not the best town to visit . You'll have a lot of fun by the sea . Keep an eye on your belongings at all time and try not to stand out
Lots of people speak  English
I wss born  and lived  there till 21 . Pm me if you have questions

Will do, but I'm 6'3 and not tan (Irish Blood).  I've lived in Hong Kong and Tokyo, so I'm used to standing out.

I've been but I rented a car at Otopeni airport, skipped Bucharest and spent all of my time in the countryside.

I can tell you about Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, and a lot of other small places, though.

Negatives:
People in general aren't particularly warm and friendly (not hostile, either, just not as easy to approach as say, Italians or Irish)
Food is simply awful (though beer is good. Wine is good but is really sweet)
Too much pollution and trash thrown about
More overt poverty than you might expect

Positives:
Yes, women are beautiful there
Very scenic countryside
Plenty of historic things to see
