Ok so I was over a Sniper Country doing a little reading when I came across the page on tactical matches Ive never heard of them before. This looks like a real challage under more like "field conditions" than an ultra clean range. So whos shot them?? whats the atmosphere like? what kind of equipmant do you use??? thanks OS

I'm not sure where you're at, but Tri-County Gun Club up in Portland has them regularly. 'Tactical Rifle' matches. Haven't done it myself, but it looks and sounds like a great time. I've lost the link, but they [the club] have a web page. That and they cost a lot to join. I'm not a member yet. Still need to win a lottery. edited ; Here it is...http://www.tcgc.org/ edited again because I made a boo boo.

Yes, have run IDPA matches since the org started and have shot "combat" matches since 1985. USPSA CRO, DeHLTA Instructor, etc. http://idpa.gunsnet.net Equipment, rules, etc. links on the site. There is a club in Southern OR (near Ashland) that ran a Single Stack Classic match we shot while out there earlier this year (basically a USPSA/IPSC match with single stack pistols), look up IDPA or USPSA 3-gun. There might also be some SOF matches there, seemed like a match-friendly place. Email if you have any questions, but best to find someone there to buddy with and show you the ropes (very friendly crowd, always willing to help out). Remember, they are ALL a SPORT.

Our club range hosts Long Range Tactical matches. 200 -1000 yards from known distances and some unknown distance shooting. http://www.sacvalley.org/Tactical/tactical.html A shooter walks the whole course out, and back in, and has to carry everything he will use. Ammo, rifle, water, whatever. Most people use bipods, but there are a few who carry a bunny ear bag or shoot off a ruck sack. Most everything is a bolt gun and the caliber range is pretty wide. They also shoot rain or shine. Target is a standard B27 25 yard pistol silhouette. Gets pretty small at 1000 yards.
