From what I've been reading 99% are detected in Stages 3 or 4 due to lack of symptoms.  When I first got my symptoms the doc thought it was a gallbladder problem.  That has so far been negative.  Could still be just an ulcer or a stomach virus of some kind.

From what I can remember he was complaining of ulcer like symtoms that would not
go away for about 6 months. He went to the doc, he found a tumor the size of a fist.
They removed it and IIRC he died 8 months after the surgery,
The key is EARLY detection with the stomach. It was just too late for pops.
Just  keep a close eye on it Dan!

I know a guy who has pretty severe reflux.  He also would wake up and throw up nearly every morning.  Had a boatload of tests.  Never found out why.  Eventually, it eased up.  They attributed it to stress.  He does have a stressful job.  I know, he works where I do  and it is very similar to my job.

I would think your age would make stomach cancer a very low probability outcome for you.

Gotta lot of stress in your life at present?

I worked with a man that had it, unfortunately he succumbed very quickly.

But for your doctor to even mention stomach CA before you've had a scan or upper GI, you should immediately slap the shit out of him and find another Doctor.

Another of our patients has it and he appears to be doing quite well, I though he would be losing the battle quickly as his wife recently passed away and he took it quite hard. but he's going pretty good right now. I believe this is his 2nd bout with stomach CA.

The things Id look strongly at first would be an Ulcer, followed by or caused by H. Pylori infection. Have you even had a Scope done yet? If not id just forget the CA thing until you have Scope w/biopsy and a CT scan.

On CT the wall of the stomach will appear noteably thickened and often appear splotchy due to the different densities if its CA.

Have you tryed Prilosec over a month or so yet? Never mind i see that now...
If you truly have reflux id say you probably have an Ulcer.

Best of luck to ya in the meantime.

You want to know if its your gallbladder?
Go deep fry some fish, fries, cheese sticks, eats some bacon, and then some ice cream.

If you wake up in pain it is your gallbladder then...

What tests have you had so far to rule out the GB?

What kind of symptoms are you having? I've had acid reflux for some time now, seems to be ok for long periods when using something simple like Zantec.  I was however experiencing severe pains in my lower left abdomen for a long time. Four years ago I went to the ER with severe left abdominal pain and they ruled me constipated, said it was chronic and sent me home.  I lived with the pain for the last 4 years. It was minor and constant and always felt like a pressure in my lower left abdomen area. In July I had another severe episode that landed me in the ER again but this time they where actually able to figure out what was wrong. I was diagnosed with a severe case of Diverticulitis. Went for a colonoscopy and then barium xray and it was decided I needed to have at least 12" of my colon removed. I was literally born with 10" too much colon which caused the entire thing to happen. My surgery was on 10/13/06 and I have been off work up until two weeks ago when I was able to return. I'm only 31 and was rather surprised when I was told id have to be cut on.  Pathology came back and said the portion removed was actually perforated, and the doc said I was within days of having a really bad day....

Sounds promising, especially since the symptoms are less without the caffeine and carbonated drinks. U might find a place that has you swallow the camera pill thing, I know there a few places that do it out there but im not sure where.

I don't know anything about stomach cancer but re the reflux you might ask your doctor about 40 mg Protonix. I'v been on it for almost 2 months and had asked about switching to a generic type of Prilosec because it was about $20 cheaper per month thru my rx insurance. She told me that it really only treated the syptoms whereas Protonix can/will heal your esophagus. I decided I could afford a $20 bill over 30 days. Its around $145 a month without insurance.
