I've been a shareholder for ~15 years, and have never been to one of the meetings.  I "intend" to get to one of them in a couple of years, after my younger son has gone to college (and my wife and I can travel more freely).  Those meetings sound like a fun time.

I'm disappointed in Buffet's political stances, but I can't really say anything, because he doesn't make them a Berkshire stance.  And since the actual management of the subordinate companies does whatever they want, he doesn't affect those company's political stances.  So...

ETA:  The one thing about Buffet that really does raise my hackles, though, is his two-facedness regarding taxes.  He runs Berkshire with one overarching credo:  PAY NO TAXES!  He doesn't sell companies in the portfolio, he configures everything to put off taxes as long as possible.  IOW, he really understands how debilitating taxes are.  He even takes a fairly small salary so that he doesn't have to pay a large amount in taxes.  Yet, he feels that most of us pay too little in taxes.

Socialism has two classes. The ruling elite, and the folks who pay taxes.

Another shareholder - organized a trip to see him in college and he paid for lunch (sat next to him ).

Munger helps even out his left-leaning politics.  Like most people, he's good at what he does best, and you ignore some of the other comments (ie, pay attention to his financial info, not his politics).

+1.  Picked up some stuff for sandwiches.
On a related note, did any of you go to the Global MultiBillionaires Only conference?  I didn't see any of you guys there.

Sorry, I was busy tumbling brass...  next year for sure, though.
