Been thinking of building a small cannon. Built a miniature rail gun when I was in high school. That was neat. |

was once at a 4th of july party. local shop teacher hade made a small canon (perhaps 1 inch or 2 inch bore) which he loaded with black powder. loudest thing i have ever heard short of a civil war reenactment group that demonstrates union rifled canon locally.
so i got interested in buying something similar. two things of interest are a swivel gun (like used against borders) or (and this is what i really want) a half scale coehorn motor (i have seen full sized but i think the wieighed several hundred pounds), you can put a coke can in the bore.. loud as hell... check out repro canons

   All pics are from Home Gunsmith.com, The guy's there are incredibly talented and their home built guns are just amazing.The site has tons of plans for everything from single shots to .50 BMG rifles and whole books that can be downloaded if you are a member.It will really open your eyes.They were having a competition on making AR lowers and one guy made it from sheet metal.Browse there and be amazed. |

I've been wanting to either get a registered DD (60mm mortar) or build a breechloading blackpowder artillery piece. I'm interested to see what comes of this thread.

Tapco Tapco.com sells little 1/2 bore black power ones for about $25. Every now and then they drop the price to $15 for dealers. I have bought 4, 1 for myself and the rest were gifts. Sound like a 9mm pistol.
