I just ask because I still keep a Gold Mastercard for this very reason since it has an $8,000 limit and a almost zero balance (enough to keep it active, a tank of gas here and there). I have always figured that if it looked like another or more strict AWB came down the pipe I would need a quick option to purchase what I could while I can. This applies to ammo, firearms, accessories, etc. I don't really need it for anything else and this is my main motivation for maintaining it. We are PROBABLY ok with our current firearm options for the next few years but the future is certainly uncertain. Anybody else have have a plan in place for the next downturn in firearms rights ?

Yes, but I prefer to do the dollar cost averaging thing...kind of a group buy of the month thing.

I am always early to the buffet

I just sold my house and zeroed ALL my credit cards.  I'm up to my ass in credit.

I'm only using one and paying it off each month.  The others are stashed, off limits except for a potential disaster (which a gun ban would qualify).

Yeah that goes without saying, I get the best deals I can now and prepare within my means but there may come day when it will be a mad rush to buy up what is available at that moment. I just think it isn't a matter of "if it will happen" but more like "when it will happen". I have a pessimist streak in me but that isn't really a bad thing IMO.

Roger that. It will happen again but worse.

I think you would be better off with an Amex, as the limits are usually higher on them. I also have a Visa with an $11,500 limit and no more than about $700/month on it that always gets paid off.

Even though I cant get the stuff shipped to me here. IF a looming ban is coming, I would max out my cards on high cap mags and ammo and have it shipped to family in TX or IA for them to store for me.

I did as well, but I won't think twice about using them for quick internet or phone purchases if the right situation rears it's ugly head.

I have a $4000 limit on one of CC. I keep enough money on it so they wont close it.

I will have to redefine it as my "Emergency Ban CC"

I spent all my money on my cat - so there better not be any bans coming anytime soon!!

I hate to say it, but I have something like 100,000 in credit cards, and one carries a balance right now because it is at 0% for the next year.  The money to pay off is going to earn interest.  So, when it looks as though Hitlary is going to win the election, I'm going to buy some more stuff to fend of the blood thirsty liberals when they come for us.

I have a 3000$ limit card I use to pay my 2997$ of tuition each semester.  In August, when school is done, it is getting recycled back to exactly that.

Crazy cat professor?

With a fully-dressed mannequin in his house?

I worry about you sometimes.

You need to start buying stuff NOW.  These are the Good Ol' Days.  Once a ban is annouced or someone thinks a ban might happen, there'll be a run on magazines, guns, ammo, etc and prices will go up.  Buy now while stuff is cheap.

Case in point, if you waited until now to buy Wolf in 7.62x39 for example, it went up from about $80-90 a case of 1000 to $130! Try to find factory packed cases of XM193, from ar15.com

Dude you live under a perpetual gun ban. Your credit cards should be constantly maxed out.

Do you have enough ammo? Did you get your .50 BMG? etc.

Uh, no.   But I do have a few cards clear - $50k, $30k and some smaller ones

Not expressly.
Though I did have plans to swoop down on my local barrett dealer and pick up an M82A1 had sKerry won the election.

One thing to consider (depending on your threat level): purchasing a firearm with a CC just leaves one more paper trail (like a 4473).

Use the CC to obtain cash and use that to make the firearm purchase through a private party.

+1

By the time you got your order in you'd be WAY overpaying for what you want to buy.

Find a source, buy it now, and set a minimum that you NEVER dip below.

I just took stock of my stash last night - made a nice Excel spreadsheet - and am happy with what I have. I of course want 10k minimum per caliber but barring me winning the Lottery... that will not be happening anytime soon.
