Just asking.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:30:36 PM EDT
No.

Nervousness has never crossed my mind before you posed the question.

Do you get nervous?
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:33:01 PM EDT
Only if Im going just before Deer season
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:33:17 PM EDT
i think anxious is a better word....i think i know what you mean
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:34:28 PM EDT
Yes, very much... I have to leave mother's basement to go to the range... There's real people all around...
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:34:51 PM EDT

I guess i am lucky enough that i dont have to plan trips to the range, i can just go whenever i am not at work and get the urge to destroy something.

Exactly what I was thinking when I read the title of the thread.

I get anxious.... making sure I have what I need.. One time my buddy and I went and he brought his guns locked in a case... yet left his keys at home... Sucked to be him that day.

But I am always anxious before a shoot... the night before that is... the following morning I am 100% fine.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:49:51 PM EDT
Nope.....maybe you are just keyed up about finally getting to play with the Garand!
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:51:50 PM EDT
keyed up = anxious IMB

I do the same... but fine the day of.

Nervous before going to the range?? No, why the hell would I get nervous. Its not a competition (usually).

Things that make me nervous are things like my low fuel light coming on while driving through Wyoming. Seeing a bear come out of the bursh and having left my gun 200 yards back in the truck. My wife going into the bathroom with a pregger test. Those things make me nervous.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:54:58 PM EDT
I have my own 200 acre range all to myself.

Garand?? OH SHIT THATS RIGHT!!!!

I almost forgot about it!!!!

NOT!!!!
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 7:58:18 PM EDT
I dont do competition, so my range times are play times. I get excited a bit, not anxious. Biggest problem is which guns to bring and how much ammo for each.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:01:10 PM EDT
I’m heading to the range tomorrow - make that THIS morning - after I get off of work.
When I get home I’m change, eat breakfast, load up and scram.
The only thing that I am is in need of food and caffeine after a night work.

Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:03:53 PM EDT
Only because I'm a range officer, and don't get much chance to shoot.

'You! Put that pistol on deck! Where's your card?

So, member since 1994, and Jon got you in special, so you didn't have to pay dues? Ever hear of muzzle control?'
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:06:23 PM EDT
speaking of.. I will not be there tomorrow.. im going backpacking with my dad instead. Ill just have to drive back from AZ to shoot with yall sometime down the road.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:11:05 PM EDT
Not nervous just excited.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:13:43 PM EDT
Positive affirmations, DrFrige, positive affirmations. You can do it!

DrFrige (right) casually overcomes his first problem of the day, as he attempts to gather his weapons for a trip to the shooting range.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:14:20 PM EDT
I sleep like a baby...
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:16:45 PM EDT
wtf?
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:23:59 PM EDT
The only time I got nervous at the "Range" was when I was walking the USAF side of the impact area at Leech Lake, Ft Irwin. We noticed a shitload of CBU-97's around us, we had be assured earlier by the USAF that they were positive none were ever dropped there. That got us thinking, what else did the USAF drop out there, that we didn't know about. We promptly range walked the hell out of there.

For those that don't know what a CBU-97 is, its a cluster munition designed by Satan himself.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 8:52:48 PM EDT
Depends on the range I go to. If you see where some of the rounds have ended up you'd be nervous too.
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 9:11:14 PM EDT
"So DrFrige ~ lie back and tell me what you think about the evening before you go to the range"

Link Posted: 9/16/2005 9:20:34 PM EDT
With enough practice, you'll be as good a shot as the rest of us so you won't be embarassed anymore......

I dont care for that shit one bit either.

My range is on my property and I don't get out there as often as I should.

It usually takes other people that want to shoot to drag me out there, and I get anxious
wondering that I have things set up well enough for them to enjoy themselves and have
a good day at the range.

Nope not at all
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 9:58:37 PM EDT
Well, I don't have any trouble deciding what to wear, if you know what I mean....
Link Posted: 9/16/2005 10:07:14 PM EDT
Noooooooo.....should I be?
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 12:13:59 AM EDT
If I'm shooting a couple of C&R rifles that haven't been shot in 60 or so years, yes. I do get a bit nervous.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 2:12:06 AM EDT
Do I get nervous the night before? No.

Do I get nervous when I'm at a public range and see the ignorant yahoos sweeping everyone with their loaded firearms because they don't know the first thing about safety?

Hell fucking yes!
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 2:23:55 AM EDT
No, I can't say that I've ever been nervous before a trip to the range. I'm very close to two ranges that I go to, one that I've worked as an RSO at. I don't often plan a trip to the range, but actually just decide to go spur of the moment. I go pretty often, of which I am thankful that I am able to. On the way to th range, I'm pretty well enjoying the drive there as well, while it's a short trip, I'm a pretty happy camper with just thinking that I'll be there soon having some fun.

A trip to Lytle Creek Firing Lines on a sunday is enough to make anyone nervous!
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 2:31:37 AM EDT
Can't say that I do ..

But then , maybe it's the fact that the range is 5 min from my
home , and I go 2-3 times a week .

Actually the hardest thing about a trip to the range for me
is NOT stopping at one of the two gun shops I have to
drive by to get there
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 2:44:10 AM EDT
uhhhh
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 2:49:57 AM EDT
I don't shoot reloads. So, no, I don't get worried.

Damn straight!

I see you've been there too.

Last time I was there, I went out to check my target, this was almost at the end of the day before closing (only three groups left on my line), and the RO must have been asleep or something. When I turned to walk back there was an idiot playing with one of his toys at the table.

I yelled at the RO, who was yapping with someone else, and he told the moron to step away from the table.

You take your life in your own hands when you're at a public range.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 2:57:47 AM EDT
Never, I shoot at least once a week.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 3:07:09 AM EDT
I sometimes get anxious before matches. What concerns me the most is forgetting some vital piece of equipment. Having a check list and a fixed routine helps.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 3:23:27 AM EDT
You don't shoot enough, do you.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 3:59:18 AM EDT
Never nervous, but I get excited and look forward to it.

No but I get all shaky when I think about fixing my fri(d)ge.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 4:35:23 AM EDT
Ya mean like a kid on Christmass eve ?
Sounds like you need to get to the range WAY more!
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 4:46:59 AM EDT
Is this the first time you are going to the range?

I remember my first time, many moons ago, I could barely sleep, thinking about everything my Dad had told me about the rifle.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 8:19:15 AM EDT
Never. I always keep my range bag packed with everything I need. All I have to do is grab it, the weapon, and the correct ammo. When I get to the range, I always see people I know, and end up chatting half the time. For me, being nervous before going to the range would be like being nervous before going to the neighborhood bar.
Link Posted: 9/17/2005 8:24:28 AM EDT
Not really... But I can't sleep a wink the night before deer season opens.
