I like vertigo. But dont try to mimic Bonos female voice. Really grab your balls and scream out the lyrics.
Which fri(d)ge guy is in this band? Listening to "Wrathchild", not too bad.
Riiiight..... |
Good covers. They do anything original?
For when the Dr. comes along, what do you play? (axe/amp/cab) |
Anyone can do covers, you arent anything until you have something original.
They might be decent lounge singers. |
Two Fender P-basses, two Charvels, a Kramer Ferrington, and Carvin amps with Carvin bottoms. As for anything original - not yet. |
Do you play? Covers aren't as easy as you think. Covers are "woodsheddin'", payin' dues, and payin' the bills. It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n roll. |
Here's a rare video of his first band (from his kitchen appliance years).
Thats great and all, its cool to listen to songs I like in a bar live when I am drunk, but as a paying consumer you arent shit until you are more then a copy cat. |
And still, do you play an instrument? |
And still, who friggin cares. They suck until they get good and get some original music. I could be Jimmy Page and still know they werent going anywhere until they got some original music. If I want to listen to U2 or Iron Maiden, I will oh my gosh, listen to Iron Maiden or U2. Copying is fine for bars like I said, you dont get signed by copying. They are good for when I am drinking and dont mind a decent live band. But as for good? You cant judge that until you have something original. |
You learn how to play by doing covers. Also, top bands that have a million original songs have been known to do a cover or two. |
They never said they were looking to be picked up by a record company. They're doing it for fun I believe. I was just sharing, you know, no one forced you to listen to their remakes. Go out and listen to some U2 and Iron Maiden if you want. |
Exactly. That's how I'm learning to play bass, at least....by doing other peoples' songs. |
Well, people who play care. The covers are good. Can you play those songs? Do you have at least, two other people with you, that can play those songs, all three of you, and sound half-way decent?
Drunk in a bar? Right on. Wanna hear you're favorite song? Good on ya', 'cause that's what cover bands live for, making the drunks happy, and if they dick it up, are you the first guy to tell 'em? You're that guy? Hey, I don't know, maybe you're not, 'cause you can appreciate what it takes to be a real musician, and you know, real musicians just have these constant streams of consciousness, where they write original music all the time, and never have to practice, and it's just pure genius all the time. If they were real musicians, they would never have to play in cover bands at a casino or a bar to pay the rent. They'd just pick up the guitar and write hit songs and be able to play them on demand. They'd never have to worry about equipment and their drunk drummer, and their dayjobs and families. If they were worth their salt, they'd already be on the radio. Paying dues, do you understand this? You're just drunk, in a bar. Why are you here? |
Eh, weve done better.. I did that bass line in one take because my guitarist/Singer didnt give me the time I wanted to... Im supposed to re do it an a few weeks so I promise a better copy. Dace, We are NOT looking to get signed, we are three guys (Real estate agent, Refrigeration technician and Accountant WITH families) that basically are too old to get signed... we are of the same ages of bands that are doing "comeback" tours... Why the hell would we want to take time and write originals? We are doing this to screw around... Hell we dont even play gigs. |
Hammer: nail. And the crummy part is, talent and work only encompass about 60% of what it takes to "make it". The other 40% is luck and who you know/blow. |
Guitarists are bastards aren't they? |
Pushy bastards!!!! and what is worse is that he USED to be a drummer... a GREAT one too so he KNOWS what the rythym section has to go through... Honestly though the man is VERY talented. |
If you are just sharing, dont be hurt when people tell you truth as opposed to what you thought they would do and love you for posting this. |
I have no (Dace) clue. Can you (Dace) can give me (Dace) a hint on who (Dace) it is? |
Bingo! |
I'm not hurt at the least bit, actually. Thanks. |
Dace,
The quote thing is out of control on this one. Let it go. It's not making sense anymore. You don't play an instrument. You're just that drunk guy in a bar that wants to hear that kick-ass song. |
I thought DFD was "Doctor Fridge's Daughter", so she should know how to spell it. |
A child conforming to her parents wishes??? Next thing you will tell me is there IS a Santa Claus!! |
There isn't!? Hey Dace! If you don't know what you're talking about, don't say anything! |
I just started playing 7 months ago so I have some sense of how hard it is play that well. Kicked ass!
Dace, please quiet down. You are making it difficult to hear the music. |
You always piss in peoples wheaties? |
ehhh he's a critic. |
Nice jammin' DrFrige. Songs are played nice and tight and came out great. You should get together with your band and make up a few songs. It's fun.
Makes me miss playing in my old band. |
