I use seagate drives almost exclusively, and this is a good buy. I just bought a 80gig for $50 a month ago. Someone needs a drive like this surely!

I'm currently waiting for a rebate for my Seagate 120 that I bought for $79 after rebate. There was something about one rebate every 3 (maybe 6) months per household so I think I'm out...but I am moving end of sept

I've never had a Seagate that didn't fail within a year.

I'll take a Seagate SCSI drive over SATA bullshit any day.

I refuse to buy shit only due to REBATES, im still waitin on 50bux for some FRS radios I got and that was last year. I have called and Emailed and still cant get anywhere.

Another story:

I got about 2000bux worth of electronics and furniture from Montgomery Wards and they had a rebate deal where if you spend X amount of money you would get rebates at the end of the year. We were looking at 150bux worth of rebates. 6months later they declared Bankruptsy and I never got my money.

so anyone with REBATES can kiss my ass an shove their rebates up their ass.

One failure in 3 years. That is out of 30 drives. All are SCSI and all are Seagate Cheetahs.

There is a vast difference in quality between Seagate's SCSI and IDE lines.

Wow, really odd that you brought this up. I decided this morning that I was going to buy a Western Digital 200GB Serial ATA hard drive next week at a local computer shop for $130 or so next payday. Sure the Seagate drive online is cheaper after rebate, but this drive is a bit faster and is 7200 RPM (not sure what the Seagate was). Plus I hate rebates, and I never count on them. I'm LONG overdue for a new hard drive and monitor. Everything else is relatively new. My monitor is about 5-6 years old now (a 17" Samsung btw) and I'm still using a 30GB UATA 66 hard drive. I'm planning on getting a 19" soon after getting a new barrel and red dot sight.

Given the lifespan of the average hard drive, I'd rather spend my money on more ammo than a low capacity, over priced SCSI hard drive.

I've been using western digital drives.

I've got 4 250 gig ide drives running now. not in raid. I hope they don't fail.

For real computing they're a requirement.
