I just scored a little .22LR Browning Buckmark pistol.  I want it for plinking and minor varmint control.  Any suggestions for a decent little scope for it?

I've had a cheap bsa red dot on mine for years.

It is quick and easy to shoot.   But I'd like to try an actual magnified pistol scope too.

I think the usual option is to use Tactical Solution's rail, and put a suitable optic on it.

What is suitable depends, but anything from a red-dot to a small pistol scope is likely reasonable.

First though, try using the open sights-they may be just fine for your intended use.

I bought it used and it doesn't have a front sight on it, so I thought I would jump right to a scope.

I thought of that, but I prefer something with a reticle.

I did a Tac Sol rail topped by a Primary arms clone of a micro dot. Works out really well for a fair price. Wanted a Burris fast fire red dot but....just too costly to put on my Buckmark plinker.

That far away from your eye when shooting? C-More.

Thanks,

It came with a rail.  The Burris looks nice.  How well does that type of sight work on a pistol?

Magnification, or red dot?

I like the Millet SP1 for a red dot.

Hey Doc, did you grab that one that was for sale on Calguns last night?

If so, that was a nice looking pistol.

Nope.  I picked one up off Gunbroker.com a month or so ago.  I just got around to going and picking it up.

2x magnification or nothing.

Are you looking to equip a mini-me version of Humungus?

I have this exact setup. It works amazingly well....once you know how to find the dot. A novice will have issues alligning the red dot to the window. Me, I pick it up and it's there every time. Usually they have it pointed to high. I guess it has a lower point of aim than other pistols but it has never been an issue for me.

I have a threaded heavy (steel) barrel on it and my suppressor doesn't change POI in the least.

I love it! Squirrels and bunnies be damned.

ETA-You're coming up on 10K, congrats!

Leupold makes a fixed 4x that you should be able to pick up used for around $150. They also make a very nice 2.5-8x but those are around $400.

Leupold also makes a 2.5x but I didn't really care for it, the field of view was almost nothing due to the small front objective.

Leupold and Burris are the only handgun scopes I could use while holding at full arms length, all the others lacked the eye relief.
