If you can't talk airsoft here, then how can you talk paintball?

PS it's a kids game.

I LOVE PAINTBALL more than PIE!!! Yeah, I've gone with friends and since we don't do it a whole lot I don't own my own gun, I use my friend's spare gun. I don't remember what it is but it's a nice gun. I am hoping to go again real soon.

You must have not had the right pie!
You think its fun now you should have been playing it in the early 90's. Its just spray and pray now.

Quite fun, especially when the group I go with is a bunch of younger people with no sense of how to actually play well.

Sometimes that gets annoying, but usually it's funny to see a group of 2 or 3 try to play Rambo and storm your fortified position, guns blazing (er... painting?).

Nothing like the satisfaction of higher ground, adequate cover, and lighting up a group of kamikazee kids.

Kid1: "He's up there... go go go!"
Kids: "AAAAAAAaaaaaaahhhhhh...!!" (storming out from the castle)
Me: (evil chuckle and lots of paintballs flying downhill)
Kid2: "Ow!"
Kid3: "Run away!"
Kid1: "OKAY, YOU GOT ME THE FIRST 5 TIMES!"

Ahhhh... nothing quite like the satisfaction of mowing down clueless people. Or crawling on your belly all the way around the back side of the field and starting to pick off their team from behind... Sucks to be them when they have fire coming from BOTH directions.

i've been playing for around 5 or 6 years and it is alot of fun! i have a Tippman Model 98
Link Posted: 10/17/2004 6:41:35 AM EST
a friend owns the field so we can do whatever we want! We went out into a forest and just had a few hours of 500 acre WAR!!! It was the bomb.

Paintball is a game but teaches you a couple things that IPSC doesn't like ducking for cover.

I found it intense and a great way to spend a day every now and then.

I'd like to, I just can't bring myself to spend money on fake guns.
I have buddies who do it.
What's really given me the bug tho', is that I got shoot the Tippman A5 at a Cabelas display. It was pretty frickin' cool. I'd take the A5 over the 98 myself, but it is more expensive. Either way, Tapco has some pretty cool accesories for both.

Yeah ive played, i preffer senario games as to normal games. Thats where its an actuall tactical simulation instead of running around in a room like in counter strike or somethign. I own and use a Tippman 98 custom, most reliable weapon ive ever had.

You could always put marbles in it

It sounds to me like every one here has a tippmann. What no Automags , Autocockers or Angles? Ill have to dig out my rusty and crusty marker and show you what a real marker looks like! I always thought tippmanns were noob guns.

Good way for you to keep in shape if your an old fart like me. I enjoy it most in the snow when I can wear my bed sheet all day long.

I've heard that frozen paintballs are good for 'coons in your trash can.
I've heard that pink racoons running around in your neighborhood are just about as fun, and easier than cleaning up.
Link Posted: 10/17/2004 7:28:06 AM EST
I've played once or twice, but my crappy stingray broke, so I've gotta save my pennies for a new marker. I'm having a hard time deciding between an Impulse or a Bushmaster... though leaning towards the Bushmaster.

I played from the late 80s until 1994 or so, there's an Automag and gear in a footlocker here.
Link Posted: 10/17/2004 7:56:07 AM EST
Its fun but here in Austin its an arms race. You see 14 - 15 year old kids with $1500 worth of gear. IMO it also teaches some bad habits. In paintball bushs are cover and after a you been nailed a couple times you get more brave than if it had been lead.

As long as you don't take it seriously it's gret fun. Two of my friends had automags while I had a VM-68. Good exercise.

I haven't played in way too long.

I played 2-3 times a week from '92-'01, rain or shine. Still love the game when I get the chance, though I haven't dusted my guns off for well over 2 years at this point. My gravity feed Phantom pumper rocks; playing with a pump these days takes some real skill and its always funny to take down kids with tricked-out guns with such a simple one. When I'm in the mood for slinging a good volume of paint, it's my WarpFeed E-Mag. That thing will make the kiddies cry. Also own a Palmer Custom Signature Blazer, but it doesn't see much play anymore. More of a loaner than anything.

I suppose I will be hanged for playing with a Spyder Compact 2k? lol

IMHO, that's what has ruined the game. If you think about it, guns cost right around 1400, n2 tank costs 400, bottomline 50, barrel kit 200, hopper 130, and mask 125. Now not including the $60 cases of paint, jerseys, pants, gloves, field fees, air fees, tourny fees and any other extras that comes to around $2305. That's bullshit, they sure as hell didn't earn it. I'd never have the balls to hit up my old man for $2300 for paintball when I was in school. Spoiled little mama's boys is what you end up with. Just disgusting.

I played one day with a Splatmaster, one day with the Crossman revolver, then I started spending money.

My starter gun was a PMI? You know the PGP with an extra 2 or 3 inches of barrel, I moved into a Bushmaster (Line SI), with the quick detach barrel, then a used Automag, added an Armson (yes Armson) barrel, 20oz tank blah blan blah.

I started out with a Spyder Compact Model "A"... A no-frills, semi-auto marker, probably the most reliable one I've seen on the fields for less than $500. About a year ago, I made the mistake of buying a Sherman PGP, for use as a backup for the Spyder. I had the worst time with that POS, everything from having the ball fall out of the chamber(I always carried it condition 3 on the fieldhe. I never did like full-auto, mostly because of the time I borrowed a kid's A5 with the response trigger, and dumped the hopper in about 2 minutes flathen.

Condition one, you mean, actually do paint markers have a safety? Then condition 0.
At condition 3, there is no round in the chamber.

I play quit a bit. I have a Phantom pump for screwing with the kids. An Automag RT and E Mag for tournament play. My stepsons have an Angel and a Matrix.

Been playing since the beginning, '86.

You old guys remember when a case of paint was $120+
Link Posted: 10/17/2004 9:09:43 AM EST
I love PB. It is not just a kids game for the idjits that think it is.

I use an ICON E that ive modded a bit (polished internals and adjustments on trigger and such).
my brother has an auto cocker.

Its good exercise and fun. but gets expensive.

I remember buying paint by the tube (10 balls per tube) and getting 5 tubes at a time knowing that was a lot for a whole day!

1994-1995 area.
Me and the wife were playing the tourniment level. We went way too far in debt. Shit im still paying on some of it.
Then Once or Twice in 2000. It just was not fun any more. Between the hosing , wiping and 12yr old with 2000$ worth of equipment. I said screw it. Its not the game I came to love years ago.

I really wish they would get the stock class back. You need skills to play stock class. And I would be back in a heart beat.

I know there is.But not many people reply.Anyways when I went with my friend we played in a very realistic manner.50+ yards away in woods.I hit him in the chest(ball didnt break) and he got me after in the inner thigh and thumb. Its not a kids game at all IMO.Just plain fun.

I played with a Bob Long Defiant for a couple years (traded it to a board member here a couple years ago for a Ruger PC4). It was a great gun. Same thing as a Bushmaster. The prices have come down a lot since they first came out. Good trigger. I remember I got it so light I could tap it from the side and it would shoot. That was the gun I used when I went to the World Cup n 1999. When you get to the pricey guns, success on the field will depend more on the player than the gun. The gun can only carry you so far.

It's supposed to mean, I suspect, that this is GD and not one of the technical forums. This discussion isn't anymore out of place than someone asking about a where to find hi-caps, or how to remove a faux-telestock.
