I watched practice last night, and am watching qualifying now. I am glad to see a dirt track race. I would love to see the big boys run a dirt track.

The A-main comes on at 9:30. 150 laps of uninterrupted racing on dirt. Should be a good race.

I have seen a few WOO events at Eldora..it will interesting to see a heavy narrow tire Nascar truck and how they handle the dirt....

I've been to the Kings Royal twice, but it was years ago. I used to go to Lawrenceburg any time the Outlaws where there. Those where fun times.

I loved watching the WOO when they came to the local track. It has been shut down a few years, so I haven't watched them in a while. I am really enjoying the truck race though. It is letting the true drivers shine.

I am confussed...

Is the 9:30 race a repeat of the 7:30 race or a new race.

Does anyone know if Lawrenceburg (Indiana) Sppedway is still open? If it is, do they still have WOO races?

The 930 race is the feature. The earlier ones are heat races (5) and a last chance qualifier.

Cool, thanks. I mostly watch the cup cars and nationwide. But the mud trucks will be my first.

If the last chance qualifier was any indication, the feature should be good. 30 trucks, 150 laps. Tempers will flare before this is over.

They are running a wider tire tonight with tread.

He would be hard to beat on a track he owns.

The cup series should run the Winston here instead of at Charlotte.

Very cool. Just slower than WOO. I still think its great. I love that track..
Link Posted: 7/24/2013 5:24:23 PM EST
...I was wondering how they were going to handle the pitting.

I should have went. This is awesome.

Looks like it's rather difficult to do a burnout on dirt.

I watched the first segment of the feature, but I have it on DVR so I'll watch it today when I get home.
This is a very cool idea. When I was watching the heat races (qualifiers), some of the non-regulars were talking about cutting regulars some slack because "they're running for points".
I would think something this out of the ordinary would be a non-points event run for the bragging rights and the money.
Is this an actual NCWT points event?
Link Posted: 7/25/2013 4:18:29 AM EST
I'd like to see them run the Cup cars there. Just for kicks.
Link Posted: 7/25/2013 4:29:44 AM EST
They need a bit more down force.
They only got up to 91mph.
Get those things up to 110+mph entering the corners. That would be bad ass.

Been to Eldora for a few Kings Royal events in the past. I would have liked to have seen this one, for something different. Oh well.
Link Posted: 7/25/2013 7:55:19 AM EST
That was awesome. 4 wide salute and all. I dvr'd it and only recorded the first two segments so I missed the finish. I've since seen the last two laps, but I want to see the last 40 in its entirety.

Yes it was.

I was hoping Tony would cruise around between heats soaking the track with the water truck. Needed more mud and the inside needed to be just a bit faster.

That's one neat thing about the dirt tracks, the conditions can be manipulated more to create better racing. Though I'm not sure what's better than oil on the track at Walkins Glen. http://youtu.be/NJHRrUGBzkE

It was a truck points race, but the regulars were not fighting for the lead. I think it took a bit more of an I don't care attitude to make passes, something regulars probably struggled with. I also think the trucks are a bit fragile for the amount of rubbing that comes with sliding around. Most of the cautions were for parts falling off trucks! And what's odd is I found myself disappointed that a caution was out, since the racing was usually still good and getting into lapped traffic which was making it even better.

Overall it was a lot of fun to watch, I agree with many of the points in the USAToday article. You certainly don't need to be going 200mph to have a good race.
