I am a recent college grad, 23 years old, with a BA in Criminal Justice. I graduated with a 3.3 GPA.

I completed a VASP internship for college credit from May 2010 to August 2010 and recently submitted an application with the VASP (2 months ago). I have no
hang ups with my background, no criminal charges of any kind and no speeding tickets or anything like that.

I understand that they are probably getting swamped with applications and I am a little worried that I may not be standing out enough in the initial selection
process. Are there any tips you VASP guys and gals can give me who have recently gone through this selection process?

based on the two people I have seen go to the academy recently and make it like two weeks you should be good.  I didn't even know one of them got in until he came back and was looking for work......

I applied a month back or so and just recieved a think you letter saying Id be notied when testing would take place.

Have you put in any apps for other departments? I know most are hiring in this area (Central VA).

If you really want to be a trooper that's cool but I'd fill out all the apps I could...what area are you in?

I received the letter saying that they had received my application and to wait for notification of testing dates. I received the letter very quickly after applying, less than a week.

I have not applied to any other departments yet. I live in Vienna but grew up in Richmond.

Agreed. Lots of other good departments hiring around here right now.

Which departments would you recommend I take a look at? I would prefer to be around the Richmond area. I grew up in western Henrico.
