I'd rather have a Clapton Blackie for that kind of money, just 'cause EVH is a dickhead.

I don't get it.

I want to understand, but I can't.

They did a similar run of Clapton "Blackie" guitars recently as well.

What do people do with these things?
I just can't see playing it. I would be too embarrassed. How is the tone? Who the f@ck knows and if you don't like it, one isn't going to go changing parts on something like this.

Do you hang it on a wall? That would be cool if it was something Eddie actually played, but this is like the mass-produced art paintings you see at Costco.

Someone help me and explain why...

Neither do I.  But you know that people will buy them.

Hell, I guess Ed has to make money somehow.  Rehab can't be cheap.

Guitars are a weird market. No one may actually want this guitar for any other reason then the fact that there will only ever be 300 of these.

There is a significant population of Americans with far more money than brains.

Very cool concept, but absolutely NOT worth the money IMO.

Even if that was the cost of materials, licensing, and labor +
"reasonable" profit margin... at the end of the day you have a clone that would surprise the hell out of me if its value held.

That reminds me of people that will pay more for something because it's a lower serial number.

The original would be hella cool to have, but I wouldn't pay 25K for it let alone a repro. For that kind of cash I'd get a M-16 and ammo.

What happens when eddie damages the original one again , ship yours back so it get the new damage?

A couple of years ago EVH had his own line of endorsed guitars and amps made by Peavey, now he's doing it again with Fender. I don't begrudge a man for making a dollar, and he certainly isn't the first musician to jump from one brand to another for endorsement money, but I'm just not seeing the point behind this from a buyer's point of view.

I could get a damn nice guitar, amp, and a shit load of guns and ammo for that price.  I'll pass (its not like I've got that much laying around anyway).

If I'm not mistaken, Charvel had a run of EVH copies a coupla years ago.
