Any other useful suggestions?  Been putting out bait traps and spraying a little bit around the edges but with no real results.  They seem to be coming in from around the dishwasher, haven't pulled it out yet to take a look.  This is on the second floor of the house and so far they are basically just in the kitchen (looking for food and water).   It has been so dry here the guy at Lowes told me that everyone is buying ant killer because they are out searching for food and water in everyone's house.  Makes sense I suppose, just wish it was my anti-gun neighbors house they decided to infest.
Thanks,
Indy

I use the Terro all around the inside especially the kitchen.  They seem to come in waves here in MD.  The real tiny ants all over the kitchen.  It takes a week or so to see the difference.

I use this around the perimeter of the house (Outside).  About once a month... Not sure if it works or not to be honest.

Terro makes a shake bag for bugs that you apply outside.  Apparently it works well.  If I can find it I'll give it a go.

You've got to figure out what type of food they're after, either sugar or protein.

Terro is a sugary poison that works great if the ants are going for sugar.  If the ants are going for protein I use borax mixed with peanut butter.  Just get some creamy PB and work some borax granules into it.  I just eyeball the borax amount, it probably work out to about 75% PB, 25% borax.

You can also apply some diatomacous earth and with time the ants will mark the entry path as dangerous after a number of die.  The DE is basically tiny glass particles so don't breathe it in.  The DE gets in the joints of the ants and cuts then open then causes then to dry out and die.  However, persistent ants may just find or make a new way in.

Vacuum, wipe up spills, sticky spots (grease and sugary sweet ones), keep crumbs to a minimum (damn kids!), and spray the baseboards, perimeter of kitchen and other entrances with something like...

we had ants invading our kitchen, my wife mixed up some sugarwater, borax soap and put the solution in a small dish with 2 cottonballs.  It took the ants a bit to find it, once they did they swarmed it, and never returned.  I was suprised how well it worked.  Check the interwebs for the exact recipe.  YMMV but it worked great for us.

Get a dish an fill.it.part way with hot water, then take two ir three pieces of hard candy and put them.in it. Sit it close enough to where they are coming in and wait for them.to start going for it. Move it to the door, and then outside. They will.just follow the candy out of the door. Move it away from the house by about 25the feet and you're done. Just be sure you don't have anything sugary inside to.lure them back.

I've done this a couoke of times and it works great.

Now,.if the ants have a triangular shape to.the rear, it might not work. Those are acrobat ants, and they are attracted to moisture in wood like termites,.and they do the same sort of damage. Those need professional treatment,  as do carpenter ants.  If try to get them yourself,.they will leave.the area and form.double the number of nests at least,.somewhere else in your home,.they have to all be killed at one time.

Those above are what I had used.  Very very effective.  The ant bait is like nectar to them.  They will swarm over it.  Be generous on application, they will take it as food and bring to the colony and kill everyone including larva or baby ants.  The Spectracide spray is also effective.  Use them as directed and you will see the desired results.

A big +1 for the Terro liquid any bait. I used that in my kitchen last month. It took the ants 6 hours to find the bait and then they swarmed it. I haven't seen an ant since.

Thanks for the tips guys...  I might have to try the liquid N2 since we do have a large tank of it at work. Just need to figure out how to get it home without freezing myself in the process.

Cyper WP.  It's FDA approved for food prep areas.  You will not have ants anymore.

Another vote for Terro. We had problems with sugar ants last year, put Terro out in about six places around the kitchen counter and under the cabinets. Like the above guy, the baits were swarmed in hours and the ants were gone in days.

+1 for Terro - I tried using the bait traps and sprays with little success, but Terro did the trick.  I had some recurrences and discovered that my ants were migrating from the mulch beds outside the kitchen, so I placed some Terro out there as well and that sealed the deal.  It will help to step up your cleaning routine in the kitchen as well; removes what they're coming inside for and also erases their chemical trails.  Good luck!

The Terro bait is down (only used one for starters) for about three hours and I have never seen so many ants coming out of the nooks and crannies of the kitchen before, it is amazing! (in a freaky, semi bad way)  I hope they all go away in a few days.  I have a bottle of borric acid powder to treat the entry points after they are gone.

Thanks guys!

I have had ant problems as well this month and Ortho Home Defense is the best thing I have ever bought.  Spray it at the entry points and they will not return.
