There have been some interesting responses here to this thread.
I will start by saying that I am a Kent State Graduate. About 17 years after the incident.
I will note its importance though, the aftermath of opening a can of whoopass on peaceful white, middle class students sure got the attention of the powers that be and pushed the paradigm over the edge and brought us fully into the age of PC, prior to that the authorities had only beat up on the radical left and poor for the most part.
As to dealing with these people I say ignore them, the less press they get the better and the press is always drown to conflict of any kind. As to professors and administrators I would suggest peaceful measures such as writing intelligent letters. Start with the univeristy president and then get the alumni directory and write to them, follow with corporate donors, Money talks folks, if enough people agree with you and threaten to remove their money from unpatriotic causes then it will change. The beauty of our system is that we all have the right to an opinion, even if it is wrong. These people are hoping for a conflict to further their beliefs, don't give it to them. If they offend you complain to the administration, file suit, work within the system. If you see the law broken then call the police. Video tape any lawless acts. These are the tools to use. Violence against our own people, even the misguided should never be condoned and gives the terrorists what they want, the suppression of our basic freedom.
