I used this from someone else earlier today, thought it would fit Sirs While not a constitute of your precinct, I have been informed you have key vote in HR 1022 and I am formally writing to request you kill the bill. HR1022 has no bearing on the elements Gun Control lobbyist should be targeting and directing their ire against. It victimizes law abiding citizens and their God given right as Americans via our 2nd Amendment, to keep and bear arms. Another AWB or variant is not a solution. Regards Randy Dixon hope it helps-me not good wit werd eder |

Just Sent this one, feel free to use as a template.
may want to adjust wording to suite your personal tastes |

Everyone should be emailing these people, it's the easiest thing in the world.
We should tack this. |
|
Emailed them and composed/sent an email to all my contacts.
Everyone here should do the same. Takes all of 2 minutes to fire off an email using a derivative of the samples here. |
|
E-mail sent! This is the kind of stuff we need to continue! Took me five minutes!
|
|
i did my part too!
everyone should write something. what's the least that could happen, they might agree with you?!?! |
|
Its ran by the Democrats, what's the likelihood of success? Just curious.
|
|
The likelihood of success is much greater than if we don't write or call. This is one way to let the members know that there is strong opposition to this bill. |
|
|
I think we need to start a nasty rumor that Jim Zumbo has joined the committee and tack the thread......Then we'll see some action.

Now follow up your E-mails with a short hand written note. When it comes to correspondence outside of face to face communication they carry the most weight. The reason for that is it is so easy to just cut and paste and then send an email. The short hand written note is a much more personal touch and is valued more and carries greater weight with the office holder who is constantly bombarded with cut and paste emails and form letters.. So I'm told by those in office.
You can find the House Judiciary web page with a listing of its members here: BTW don't forget to communicate with your reps and others in the U.S. Senate. This is where I think we have the greatest chance of killing this. |

Thanks for posting the link. My wife and I both sent emails. I'll be sending hand written notes this morning. Thanks again

Representatives,
I am writing due to my overwhelming concern and firm opposition to H.R. 1022 which is currently in committee. H.R. 1022 is a bill constructed to engage and disarm the citizens' of America that own arms legally. The previous bill was not renewed because it had no foundation to show it made any impact on crime rates nationwide. Likewise, this bill [H.R. 1022] would have no tangible effect on crime if allowed to pass. Any law presumes a conscientious, rational person to follow them. The problem with H.R. 1022 is that it is attempting to hinder the 'criminal' element; they are criminals and thus would not follow your law or any law. Criminals appreciate unarmed civilians, less chance of anyone stopping them (how many less people would've died in Utah or Columbine had someone had equal or better firepower and had practiced with their arms?). There are more good people in this country then bad; it would be a pity to maim the rights of many to little or no effect to the few bad apples. The laws in place right now are quite ample to ensure that weapons do not simply fall into the hands of the enemy (the enemy being anyone trying to harm the social contract) and those of us that want to have concealed weapons or any weapons for that matter go through a great deal to earn this right. The right to bear arms is one of the few rights that folks have to 'earn' but we continue to do so. H.R. 1022 is another constraint on just and good citizens without any rational foundation. It is a reaction and not a response to crime; therefore this bill should not leave committee as laws should be logically thought through rather than an emotional response. I would again like to state that I greatly disagree with the foundations of this bill and concretely oppose its consideration and/or passage. Thank you for your time. Warmest regards, GZF Sent |

This used to be true. Post-antrax scare, I doubt it. As I understand it, all snail mail to the U.S. Capitol still gets diverted to an inspection center. I've heard that the lag time before a Rep or Senator gets something in the U.S. mail can run weeks or even months. By the time your letter gets to them a legislative issue could already be decided . . . |

Another email sent!
Funny,,,, I hope I'm not on a new "watch list" now!!! |
|
While we are at it here is another bill of hers in the judiciary.
HR297NICS Improvement Act of 2007 This one has a couple of sponsors. Clicking her name in the left margin will bring up her stats and current bills. Probably need to keep an eye on the others as well. |
|
Here's mine started getting a little heated so I figured I better stop.
I'm writing in regards to HR 1022. I sincerely hope this bill does not make it out of comitte, it is the most pointless and useless waste of taxpayer money that I have ever seen. We already know gun bans don't work, just look at Australia and England. You need to spend more time focusing on the criminal(people) aspect and less time on feel good legislation and worrying about hurting peoples feelings. I'm cureetly active duty and to see our "elected" officials treat our constitution and GOD given rights with such disregard makes me sick to my stomach especially after so many good men and friends have died for the rights that you are slowly trying to take away. It's time to put common sense back in Congress and quit pussy footing around the real issues! William G. ******, Jr. |

done
Facts are, too many people are not willing to contact the government because they would rather roll over to the government. I had a good friend/gun owner/chl holder tell me yesterday that he did not believe that ARs had any place in hunting either. (we were talking about zumbo). And he was not going to contact his reps concerning the AWB. Instead he only said "man, I wanted a masada". This is the response I have seen all too often. Its really sad. BTW, I set him straight about ARs and he has contacted his reps....... |
