  Firing a modern .308 rifle. Shrapnel covered my forehead and went down and nearly went into my eyes. I wear eye protection with milsurp and bolt actions, but I don't typically with modern rifles. Now I will be. |

Glad you're ok. I started wearing eye protection without exception about 6 years ago.

Yep, a kaboom will teach you, mine was in 92 and i still have a piece of brass in my right eye. Be careful out there.

Yep. I became complacent in some regards due to the fact it was a modern commercial firearm. |

It was a gun from a manufacturer on this site, and it was a semi-auto .308. I'm not going to get into specifics at the moment until I consult them. edit: It was Federal .308 |

I had a MAS 49/56 kaboom on me. ( A squib, my fault) the bolt blew up right into my forehead and left a bolt logo on my melon cookie cutter style.
I looked like this  when I realized I wasn't dead. I never did find the bolt, and I looked for it for a long time. It must have bounced pretty good. Glad you are OK LT. |

I wear eye protection over my glasses. Some people think glasses are enough, they are wrong.
