Last Tuesday I started to get the unmistakable first symptoms of a Cold. Instead of going into denial, I immediatly started taking Zinc tablets (30 grams, twice a day) and Zinc lozenges (every two hours).

Goddamn, Zinc really works. It felt like I had about 10% of a cold; it only got bad at night when I was not taking a lozenge, and I was able to work out pretty hard a couple of hours every day. Right now it feels like the dreaded virus is gone, kaput. Zinc really kicked its microbial ass, I recon.

I take zinc and vitamin C from September to April. I rarely have colds, but if I do, its not a severe cold and it doesn't last long either.

Silver's another good antimicrobial metal.  I sometimes take silver when I'm sick, and my brother says that his socks that he wears during basic are infused with silver metal, and they don't stink.

The vitamin C "cure" is a myth.  Since it's water-soluble, your body will excrete anything above its natural maximum level.  Zinc is involved in the immune system, but I don't know how taking more of it effects cold symptoms.  I do know the most consistent thing I've found in counteracting the onset of a cold is to drink lots of water; nice warm tea is still better.  This simply makes sense because it is the fluid for flushing out wastes, toxins, etc. - & it works.  You'll whiz like a waterfall, but that's a good thing in the case of a cold.

A few years ago I was on vacation and felt myself coming down with a cold, invariably when I get a cold I am miserable for about a week, I had heard about Cold Eze lozenges so I decided to try them, since I was out of my area I had some trouble finding a pharmacy, but finally got them, the effect was amazing, I had ONE miserable day, and the cold was almost completely gone the next day!  I had never gotten over a cold that fast, now when I feed a cold coming on I take them, I haven't had a really knock down cold since I tried them, they are nothing less than amazing.  I have found that the generic ones seem to work just as well as the more expensive Cold Eze.

They may or may not work for you, but for me...I'm sold!

No actually, it's not.

Silver is an effective topical anti-bacterial agent.  It's used in it's highly dissolved/suspended form in certain medical treatments such as burn therapy, infant conjuntivitis and others.

Problem is there ARE side effects when taken INTERNALLY for long periods of time.  Argyria is probably the most horrid.  Your skin turns a shade of grey and it's forever.  There's no *cure* nor does it ever go away.  It's not real pretty.

It can also cause fatigue, stomach problems, seizures, kidney problems and other things.

It DOES *kill* lots of bugs, hence the silver threaded socks on the market and other such applications, but it just isn't very good to take internally.

If silver doesn't work,  why do ALL burn centers use colloidal silver with burn dressings?

A cyborg! Cool!

Seriously though, it is now 5 days after the onset of my cold and it is totally gone. Zinc works.
