A few years ago Andy McNab (Bravo Two Zero) wrote a couple of truly horrible fiction books. In one of them, an operator has to set up in a "hide" for an unknown amount of time. He takes a huge dosage of Imodium so he won't have to defecate while in the hide. So here's the question, do SpecOps types load up on Imodium before going into hides? Fact or crap?

I can't tell you if they use it, but I will say I must have some sort of irritable bowel syndrome and I swear by that stuff. If I get skird and take a few of them, I won't <not one of those threads> for 5 days easy.

A book I have about special forced sniping

a green beret in assghanistan said his team took it while they were in the field to keep from shitting

he then made the comment it was not pleasant when they got back to base and had to try to shit out the stoppage Im sure it was unpleasant

Army Field Rations.

I've gone into The Field and not have needed to have bowel movement until we've returned to the cantonment area. I never once tried Not to relieve myself, but it always happened that way. One time we were in the field for 6 days, the longest I've ever gone without having to make a "Bombing Run". 2-3 hours after we were released for the remainder of the weekend, Look Out!

I've known guys who take it while on long patrols. Those books are full of bad medical advice.
