Welcome to the party pal. Hell, I shot mine twice. First shot was non fatal, second time was about like yours.

I apologize for laughing at your misfortune but....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

There are two types of people in this world. Those that have shot their chronographs, and those that have not shot them yet.
|
|
Understandable - cloudy, drizzling, sleeting Washington weather.

|
You haven't learned lesson two yet.
Don't loan out a chronograph. |
|
Been there done that..
Now I have a magetospeed to worry about hitting |
|
Believe I found your chrono error problem. Bullets have to pass over center of both screens. You obviously weren't passing the bullet over the back screen.

My son shot mine when he was home on leave from the Marines.....
Not once, but twice..... Still didn't hurt the thing..he got lucky... Attached File Attached File |

Yep..you guessed it. A 9mm Major round to the front of a Competition Electronics Chrono. Have fun contacting Shooting Chrony about it. They are pricks. |

Congrats. one of the great days was when i shot my POS Chrony chrono. Would never read unless the shot was 1" below the sensor. the replacement pro chrono digital has been flawless.

Over the years, I'm nailed two chronos.... One with a 5.56 (ain't height over bore a bitch?) and the other with a .50AE.
I was doing some T&E on a huge, ridiculous Deagle for a gun rag and had already put around 300 round through it in the previous two hour... As such, I developed a little flinch. Last round of the day sent a 300gr SP right through the son of a bitch lengthwise. Blew it the fuck up. |
|
Bad shoot.
Best I've managed so far is to hit one of the guide rods. Rod probably flew 20 feet away. There's always time to tag the main unit though. |

Paging TxLewis. TxLewis to the white courtesy phone please...
It was mine, but TxL shot it, then bought me a new one on Amazon on the spot and had it delivered before I could get home from the deer lease. .308 Win will straight up ass rape a chrony. We hung it on the trophy wall next to the antlers in the cabin. Hopefully, TxL will post up some pics for our further amusement. |

I know your pain, dinged a rod on mine the first day I had mine, knocked the back sensor apart luckily I put it back together and it still works. Got wooden dowels for the rods now so the break rather then rip the think apart.
|
|
It wouldn't have saved you on this one, but if you haven't replaced your sun screen metal rods with wooden dowels do it. Plenty of chrono's have been jacked up just from hitting the metal rods. When using the dowels your chrono doesn't go flying from the impact of a rod being hit.

I shot mine with my 50 Beowulf... wasn't much left after that. Good thing is that the Crony deal for shot one's is a sweet deal.
A friend of mine shot the REPLACEMENT with an 8mm Mag- he had to buy a new one. |
|
I managed to shoot one of my antennas. I'd post a pic, but it's in Arizona. Luckily the box with all the electronics inside seems fine.

Well goddamnit. I was out testing some new handloads for my 9mm. The weather wasnt cooperating, and sometimes I'd get a bad read (3900 FPS from a 9mm? Doubtful!). So I was trying to aim a bit lower to make sure the chrony would get a solid read in this cloudy, drizzling, sleeting Washington weather. Sure as hell, I nicked the back of the chrony. I'm not quite ready for the "I shot my chrony" award, but man I was close. It doesnt get any closer than this without ending up picking up pieces of the chronograph......
