I know someone will say I should do this privately by email. Well I pretty much do everything in the open and see no reason to stop now. And more importantly I don’t have anything bad to say that should be kept private.

About a month ago after a misunderstanding, I prepared to excuse myself from AR-15.com. This was in large part due to a misunderstanding between myself and anitUSSA. A “few” moderators told me to just ignore it and it was you who told me “Don’t let them win”, and encouraged me to remain. I have since resolved the issue between antiUSSA and myself as the misunderstanding that it was.

I was assured that nothing really has or will change. I was a member of the “old” board under the username Arminius. I remember hardly ever posting because of how “wild” the crowd was. I almost left as soon as I became a member and it was Duffypoo who convinced me not to leave. In that time, I haven’t changed but AR-15.com certainly has. A month ago I was very concerned that I really didn’t fit in with the new “kinder and gentler” more family oriented forum. It was for this reason that I decided to just walk away. I had no ill feeling towards the forum, I just felt that I would be out of place.

But it was you who convinced me to stay. You told me nothing was wrong with what I posted and I should not have deleted my post history. You told me the ideas put forth in the chat room were not a done deal. In short you told me nothing really changed and I was stupid for thinking I should leave. I also have posted with far less frequency than before the “anti” incident.

I am sorry Babe of the Day has caused you so much grief. I’m sorry members take this post as far past the limits as they same to take every post. BOTD being so popular it is more recognized when abused. If I started trouble on “Sig vs. Glock” it would take a lot for it to get locked or even noticed. I was made aware that I have been the subject of much controversy in the moderator forum. That is unfortunate. I would have done anything asked by you. I was not aware of the “only one babe topic” decision when I made my reply post to BigPig last night. Had I been privy to your wishes I would have understood. Again, you only had to ask. And I’d also like to point out that many “babe” threads were not mine, even the current one. I tried to only have one going at a time. Also, as I became aware of the problems associated with BOTD I tried to correct it with SteyrAUGs Perfect 10s. If you read the first line of this post, you would see that I tried to create a “babe” topic more in line with the “new” AR-15.com. And when this one was seemingly arbitrarily locked without cause I blew a fuse. I could use the “in a bad mood” defense but it has been taken.

On to the topic of BigPig. You have chosen to stand by your moderator and his “just in case” decision. I have chosen to stand by my current assessment of him as a moderator. That would be the former “unedited” assessment.

I should also explain my motivation for why I do things a certain way. My Grandfather was the most honest person I ever knew. I spend my life trying to be just like him, usually falling very short. He was the kind of guy who would post pictures of guns on a porno site. But he was also as loyal as he was honest. He was also kind of a wild card. He also would have called BigPig a “f*cking sh*tbag assh*le.” At the end of the war some Johnny Church do gooder came out and painted over the nose art on their B-24 bomber. He was at least as pissed as I was last night. I think we both reacted in a similar manner. I think he would have approved of my actions.

Also I really don’t have a compulsive need to do “babe” threads as has been suggested by some of my detractors. The original was really the only fun one for me. The rest I did for the members because it was popular. If I didn’t start one, someone else would. A quick check will show I only ever actively participated in the original.

I would like to close by thanking you for the forum and it’s use. I’m sorry it went like this. I’d like to have my account reactivated, I learned how useful this forum is on 9-11. I’d like to have it in times of crisis and need, or if I ever want to know how to install a buttstock. But even with my account restored I just can’t see posting on a regular basis anymore. I just don’t see my fitting in with the new AR-15.com. But no matter what you do you should restore Shooter65s account. I think he was just messing with you and meant nothing by it. AR-15.com really needs an official “court jester”, someone who can point out when the mods and staff are nuts without fear of consequences. Not that I am nominating Shooter65 for that position. But he just got married, consider it a wedding present to restore his account.

And to my supporters “Thanks.” But don’t do anything stupid on my account I won’t be a regular fixture anymore no matter what GB does. So don’t get yourselves banned on my account. To my detractors, a big healthy “screw you” I didn’t like you then and I don’t see cause to get all mushy now. Oh I forgot “waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!”

I'll second that non-vote.  Though he has annoyed me a time or two, his post was right on and I bear him no ill will!  I am absolutely certain I annoy several people - and rather often!!  

The board IS too PC at times, Goatboy included.  All concerned have allowed temper to overrule reason - a bad thing.  Cchildren have spats over emotional reactions - adults resort to reason, even if it is the next day when reason comes to them!  Some mods DO over react and create problems.  Not a fatal fault, just bad judgement that needs re-examined in the light of day.  If you exercise judgement on a regular basis then you WILL make errors in same.  That is why there are appeals and rehearings.  Three wrongs do NOT make a right.

Damnit! Steyr has been the only fed who hasn't been mean or threatened me with jail if I didn't turn informant.  

This like Gun Control here. Whenever some idiot goes and blows away a bunch of people with an illegal MG, there are calls for more Gun Control.

Apparantly, it works the same here. One to two complete assholes, Scatman and IiIiIiIi posted some pictures that were both disturbing and well beyond the rules. They were locked and from what GB said, their ISP was notified. That should have been the end of it. They violated the rules, they were punished. Instead much like HCI, the mods began cracking down and making the rules really strict.

Don't get this wrong: What the mods are doing and what HCI is doing are no different.

Also, who else believes that preventing a crime requires making rules as you go. Oh yeah, it is HCI, et al.

 I think SteyrAUG is a stand up guy who has contributed to this site greatly, if not more than most registered users on this board. It doesn't matter if I think he should be let to come back here. It's not my decision to make, it's GB's. GB has always been more than fair with all of us and I will respect his decision either way.
 I will say that Steyr's contributions to this site will be greatly missed, and I think I speak for a lot of the people here when I say that.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I have to agree with The_Beer_Slayer.  I personally don't like a lot of what Hineline posts but Don's post is way out of line.  David's post violated no rules of any kind yet he is threatened.
