Talk about an absolute cluster fuck.  Disabled vet, he has a service dog to help with PTSD issues and keep him chilled out.  They wouldn't let it ride with him, which he understood. But now they've lost the damn dog. Nobody knows where the dog is. How the hell do you lose a dog?

Your opinion is worth a good bit less than you think it is. Especially since he had to pay an extra $175 to have the dog flown.

OMG, that is horrible..
I can't even imagine what that Vet is going through without his dog, not knowing if his dog is even still alive, this is just all kinds of fucked up
And to think about the absolute lack of compassion he is getting from the airline, they probably told him.. "oh, just get another dog".. Heart-breaking..

I remember reading somewhere about the conditions animals are subjected to in the cargo bay of an airplane. They are basically luggage at that point. Who knows where the dog is or what condition it is in. Sad, really. I would never fly with my dog and allow him to be handled like that for fear that he would be in a bad way.

Cargo bay is not pressurized nor temperature controlled. That's where they put the dogs - with the rest of the luggage.

That matters? Holy fuck, they agreed to transport property and lost it. They knew it was very valuable property. Stop pretending to be a hardass, sit down, and have a good cry. Because that's all your bullshit is, a simple and pointless whine.

They're supposed to, but who knows what the person loading the cargo does. I think you can actually buy a ticket for a service animal that is not small enough to fit under the seat.

Dad was a United pilot, flew the A320.

Said there was a switch in the cockpit they called the "cat killer switch" as it would turn off the heat in the cargo area.

FWIW, my families two Burmese cats travelled with us to Saudi Arabia back in the mid-80's, there and back again. They were none the worse for wear.

I heard somewhere (but can't verify) that pets might be given a treat that puts them to sleep during the flight so they don't make noise, sometimes they don't wake up..

Badly.  We flew him in to help him because he was having so many issues already.   The airport claims they have it now, 6 hours later.  Total time lost,  12 hours.
