Unions have been on slowdowns to force a contract settlement. There has been an federal injunction on the unions since June. It has tied AA in knots.
I’m sure it’s good for the company and job security. Also, the mechanic is possibly involved in a snackbar https://www.apnews.com/6f03105ca6ff4a36bb728626802565eb |

There’s more to this than labor dispute
According to news reports Abdul-Majeed Marouf Ahmed Alani has been charged with "willfully damaging, destroying, disabling, or wrecking an aircraft, and attempting to do so," according to a criminal complaint filed in federal court. |
|
Back when coal miners were being sent into dust filled tunnels and the mining company also owned the only grocery store in town, forming unions was the only recourse they had.
When steel workers connecting I beams on a high rise needed fall protection and the company complained it was too expensive, workers forming a picket line served a purpose. Now unions have become bloated entities that serve no purpose. We have labor laws, we have minimum wages, anti-trust laws, and worker safety laws. Everything the unions were originally formed for has been achieved, so what's left for them now? |

Quoted: Throw him in a cell and throw away the key. No place for this bullshit in the A&P profession. View Quote A guy that worked in our hangar had been trying to get on with Delta for awhile now. He said he was going to file suit against them for discrimination against Muslims. A few of us told him his background check is probably the reason. He was on probation for an altercation he had with someone and pulled a pistol on him. He was a shit bird of the highest order. Always doing the absolute minimum. Claiming discrimination if he was told to change a tire or brake on one of the aircraft. We were all so happy he left for somewhere else. |

Oh and you owe taxes on the raise so it is even less money in your pocket. But we till take that up at the next collective bargaining, ye got your back, that way we can keep you still while we fuck you real good. |

We used to have a flight attendant that was finally caught sabotaging aircraft. Dude wasn't doing it because he was disgruntled though. He had "hero syndrome". He'd break and steal shit so he could report it as broken or missing on his pre-flight inspection and get the 'ol attaboy from everyone. He did it so much they finally took a brand new aircraft and had the mechanics go over it with a fine tooth comb and every checklist imaginable to make sure it was perfect. Then they tugged it to the gate for this guy's next flight. Sure enough he broke a couple of seals on a PBE and a med kit and stole a co2 cartridge out of a water extinguisher to report it missing. He was told that he could go on home. FBI arrested him there later that day.

Quoted: I’m somewhat ok with certain types of skilled labor unions in aviation for pilots and mechanics. If there weren’t regulations for duty hours (and how do you think those came about?), the airlines would work pilots harder than Amazon fulfillment workers.
