Heard two rock covers of rap songs at the strip club the other night.
Neither are good really, but both are infinitely times better than the original rap version. Funny how that works. Far - (Hot Little) Pony Original was done by Ginuwine, under the title Pony. Link. Framing Hanley - Lollipop Originally done by Lil Wayne. Link. Like I said, neither are good. But they sorta made me laugh at the strip club (assuming you've heard the originals). Beats the original versions of the song that they usually play. |
|
That would be because music requires melody, harmony, rhythm, and timbre. Rap has only rhythm, and sometimes not even that.
|
|
On lolipop I just wish both versions would disappear.
I'm starting to hate Lil Wayne, but the screamo metal douchebags who cover him are just as bad. |

I'm sorry but that Pony cover was fuckin god awful and that band should be shot.

Find the cover of "Boys in the hood" done by Dynamite Hack. All acoustic guitar. It's amazing how laughable (and crass) ghetto noise is when it's slowed down and sung by someone who doesn't speak urbanese...

I used to love Throwdown. Hung out with the band few times back in high school. When I was a straight edge faggot. God the HxE scene is gay. |

It used to be that a Rap cover of a rock song was gold. Walk This Way by Aerosmith/RUN-DMC was a huge crossover hit. It actually helped re start Aeorsmith's career. Rap has sampled rock songs since the 70's.

Check out the album Punk goes Crunk. It's a bunch of punk/metal bands covering rap/hip hop songs.
Cover of Rhianna's Umbrella- this one is is better than the original http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Eis3S3f1P8 And The Devil Wears Prada's cover of Still Fly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fzE7wzrByE&feature=related And Best of all- Say Anything covering ODB's "Got your Money" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-OLvviiUyY&feature=related |

You know nothing about these bands or metal-core. The Devil Wears Prada is NOT EMO. They're a Christian Metal Core band. |
