I just had a couple fingers of Martini and Rossi, not mixed in a martini or anything. I think it tastes good, almost like port wine except with a milder and much more complex flavor. Anyone else do this, or should I just mix it with some Bombay Sapphire?

You sir have a problem. Don't become "that" guy. Get a decent mixer, like some Stoly and have at it.

Unless you are already drunk, then your choice is acceptable

Stolichnya would mean a vodka martini, which is unacceptable. Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire would be a much better choice for a "real" martini.

But I agree, you don't ever want to be "that dude", but i'm sure that most of us have been there.

Uhhh I did it the other night. I ran out of Liquor and was left with Triple Sec and Vermouth. I took a few swigs to get a buzz and decided I need to restock the bar....

vermouth tastes like rotten hooker ass. (and i have first hand knowlege)

People actually do this and it is accepted - although not common.
Personally I only like a few drops of Vermouth in my Gin Martinis.

I don't even want any of that shit in the same room with my bourbon.

Dude - seek help.

Gayness.

A proper martini has no vermouth in it. Gin or vodka, 2 olives, and you nod in the direction of the vermouth. Its like a good luck charm, like throwing salt over your shoulder.

I stopped all pretentiousness concerning martinis and am much happier. My martinis are vodka on the rocks with some olives for something to look at.

Now Im thirsty. =(

I recently heard about someone else that drank vermouth straight.

Not my kinda thing.

ETA - Mix it with Bombay and add a lemon wedge.

Dry or sweet?

It is an acquired taste. Either.
