Well woke up 0500. At work 0645. Got coffee. Checked out the job section on Bloomberg and noticed its only me and the VP of compliance so far. Is there anyone else working today. I have to be here till market closes, which is 1400 EDT. Maybe 1/2 - 1hr after. This sucks.

Not many people here today....only 4 people on my floor so far and not expecting too many more (about 50 on this floor during normal day).  Should be a great day to catch up on some work.

Nope I'm working today too. There are six of us working, keeping the Verizon telephones working in four counties. Lots of windshield time and wandering around in the boonies. I had put in for a personal day but someone with more time got the day instead. To make it even worse vacation starts Monday.

I'm with ya buddy!  Poured the last drink for a customer at 2:05AM(left the restaurant at 3AM) this morning and was up at 6AM to work(work, not workout, that will happen when my shift is over) at the gym. Back in the Rest. at 2PM. My ass is spent and still have 3 more bar shift(2 nite managing the rest. as well) to work of this holiday weekend.  I bitch now, but going to the bank on Monday is alway fun.

Ha HA, that's the plan. All the bosses are on vacation, so I'll spend a little time browsing AR15.com today, heh heh, and maybe get some real work done. I'll put MS access on low priority in NT and run a big query, then I can brows th web while i wait for it to finish.

Nope, fire guys told me to stay home since nobody would be in the office (nobody but me pretty much wanted to work).  Don't get paid not to come like they do but whatever...make it up over next week I guess, still, sucks I gotta work extra as well to make up for the fourth.

I volunteered to work today. The wife had to work so sitting around the house watching crappy talk shows was not exactly a worthy use of a vaca day.

I worked fixing up one of my houses I bought for resale. I work pretty much everyday tell its done. I don't get paid tell it sells. It usually takes me 1 -2 months from start to finish, but I sure love those $30,000 pay days every other month. Happy 4th[:D]

So...are the little bastards in the hoosegow?  How's the guy doing?  I hope someone takes the time to explain to the miscreants why it is that they enjoy the wonderful freedoms bestowed upon them by the heroic actions of all vets who served their country.

I also hope the judge throws the book at them.

(As I sit here listening to the "Band of Brothers" CD.)  [pissed]

And yea...I'm at the (nearly empty) office.  It sucks too because the super turned off the A/C since it isn't a "normal work day".  Looks like an early get away today.  Too damn hot in DC for this crap.

Yup, I'm working too. The life of an engineer is never dull. Sounded like a friggin war zone in my subdivision last night. Everybody was trying to "out do" each other.

I was contemplating unloading a few 30 rounders to join the fun. If I'd had a few more Sapphires in me, I just might have done it.
Instead, I just threw a brick of black cats in the back yard. One of the 1000 count types. It lasted for a little while. Then I went to bed dreaming of 1000 yard 10 ring hits......

I thought about saying, on behalf of all of us who are out of work right now,

but then I decided not to because that would be mean-spirited.

I am installing patches as we speak. For a brief time I considered moving a bunch of our data catalogs from Oracle 8i to 9i. Then I thought to myself.... "Why in the hell do you want to do that today????"

So, it's a cush day. Score one for me though. The CEO was trying to remote from Hilton Head and couldn't get in. I walked him right through it and he's happy as a lark.

My job disappears end of July, so I'll finally have a summer that doesn't involve working 60-80 work weeks....
