My girlfriend and I just came home from hanging out with my brother. He just recently got back together with a girl who dumped him three years ago for another guy who she thought would be better for her. I told my brother to kick her to the curb because she didn't think he was a good match before, what's to keep her from leaving him for the first guy she thought would be better for her? Well, needless to say, my brother and I are on the outs. Was I wrong to tell him to dump her?

you're looking out for him, nothing wrong with that

my roomie just got back together with his ex, who is quite possibly the most mentally unstable uber-bitch ever to roam the face of the earth,
I did the same and he's a bit pissed, I know your pain

... I found out in life, the best way to involve yourself in someone else's personal relationship affairs is not to.

... Just be a good listener

Nope. Brothers are supposed to look out for each other. You never sugar-coat it. If she's a bitch, he needs to know it, especially if he has "pussy-blinders" on.

See, I tend to disagree.... I feel No and Yes.

On a serious note John, For some reason the female "Man-mit" always gets preference over friendships and family relationships. You gave him your piece of mind... tell him that you are sorry it offended him but you couldnt rest until you spoke your mind and let him know how you felt. Then tell him that you will forever keep your peace.

And just be there when he falls again and NO "I told you so's"

Deep down he knows he's a desperate idiot. You only confirmed this to him.
Oh,well...

I have a roomate who is 21 and still with his first and only girlfriend. I and the rest of his freinds (past and present) have told him lose the bitch daily and repeatedly. We're all convinced he only stays withher because it's the only place he can get laid. UBER PSYCHO BITCH FROM HELL WOULD SELL HER SHORT. She is controlling, so routinely overdraws her checking accout daddy wont pay it anymore guess who does, and generally sees him as a tool or asset, and despite the fact she does not live here her opinion is the only thing that matters and it effects the other occupants of the house, and does not allow him to go out without her although she routinely goes out without him. All wemon have their less than fine points, as do men. But generally people do as much as they can get away with, if she screws with him it is because he allows it. Set your brother straight and don't let a peice of tail screw his or your life up. Family should come first do and say what you believe is right, if he or your girl does'nt like it maybe they'll come around when it matters!!!!!

I'd say yes and no....

Three years is a long time, maybe she realized how good it was with your brother... Maybe she's matured/grown/changed...

OTOH, a leopard can't change it's spots to stripes, now can it?

I would just advise him to be cautious. She thought she found something better than him before... what's to say she won't find something 'better' again?

Yes
Link Posted: 10/24/2004 8:57:49 PM EST
hey, brother's opinion/advice counts. whether you accept it or reject it, you always need to at least hear it. he'll get over it, brothers never stay sore at each other for long.

You were dead right.

You tried to help the shmuck and it was like throwing pearls at swine.

Hell with it, he'll find out the hard way.

You did the right thing. But, i have learned that guys NEVER EVER take the edvice of another guy when it comes to pussy. So really, your in the right, but it's also a pointless waste of time trying to help him.

Just be there with a sixpack when it all goes to the inevitable hell it is destined for.

A long long time ago, I was in a similar situation and no one had the balls to tell me what you told your brother. I wish someone had. You did the right thing. She owns him and she knows it. It sounds like everyone knows it but him.

Because they will do just the opposit of what you want!!!

Same as your brother just tell him heres to us that wish us well, and all the rest can go to hell!!!
