Anyone know where to find the classic, cheap, webbed aluminum folding lawn chairs?

All I seem to be able to find are heavier, "fancier" models.  The search engine results are mostly noise.

I want the old crappy standby because they are lighter and fold/store better than the newer versions.

I don't like the new style that fold up into a bundle, the "sag" in the seat is uncomfortable.  Heavy patio furniture is fine, but I want something I can bring out if there are a lot of people, and can bring a few on a trip without feeling like I'm moving furniture.

I was able to score some after grandpa died a few years ago.  I don't know how old these things are, but most of them still have plenty of life left in them and are better chairs than most of the crap out there today.     I do have one that took a dive on us this summer,  I am going to have to either repair it or replace it,  but I don't know if that is even possible.

They're being sold as "vintage" antiques, WTF?

Did some government bureaucracy ban these things or something?

We used to have tons, but they eventually fell apart and were trashed. Never knew there would be a shortage of them.

You can keep 'em.  I much prefer what's on the market now.

But, if you got the cash, and like retro: http://www.amazon.com/Plodes-RECH-reDO-Lawn-Chair/dp/B001WPJTO0

Most were thrown out when the webbing was damaged, and people have kinda wanted a more comfortible chair since they were invented.

FWIW, might this work out for you - or maybe it sits too low?

Surf around the sight, though - their stuff is overall far superior to most of the throwaway copies now sold everywhere.

That's a damn shame as the webbing was very easy to repair.  That is assuming they still sold the rolls of it.  We used to fix the ones we had.

I can't believe no one has suggested garage sales yet. That is the best place to find them.

I searched for them a couple years ago and found them in the Ace hardware catalog.  Not sure if they are still there.  Oh well, powder coated steal now.

Yeah!  Arfcom hero of the day!

I like the story - the company was the proverbial buggy whip manufacturer which, instead of blaming Obama or Bush, actually realized there was still a market for buggies - but they would have to make them themselves.

I know there's several rolls of replacement webbing in my mom's basement. My dad used to replace the webbing on ours. I need to find a few frames. I always thought webbed lawnchairs were some of the most comfortable chairs made-indoor or outdoor.
