Alec Baldwin Says 2000 Election Was As Bad As Sept. 11th
Actor compares 2000 election to Sept. 11 Alec Baldwin says disputed vote damaged democracy By Bill Cotterell DEMOCRAT SENIOR WRITER Florida's 2000 presidential election fiasco damaged democracy as badly as the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks hurt the nation, actor Alec Baldwin said Thursday. Baldwin told a Florida A&M University audience that President Bush and his brother, Gov. Jeb Bush, are hoping that a wartime "moratorium on criticizing the government" will help Republicans in the fall elections. Baldwin, a New Yorker, said memories of Sept. 11 have overshadowed public doubts about the 36-day recount of Florida presidential ballots. He said the war makes it hard for Bush critics to remind voters of "this other disaster that we faced in this country - a disaster that ... has done as much damage to our country as any terrorist attack could do, in some ways. "I know that's a harsh thing to say, perhaps, but I believe that what happened in 2000 did as much damage to the pillars of democracy as terrorists did to the pillars of commerce in New York City," Baldwin said, drawing applause from the breakfast audience of about 200. Bush spokeswoman Elizabeth Hirst said the governor signed legislation last year providing $24 million in election-reform funding over two years, including $6 million for voter education and $2 million for a statewide registration database. Much of the rest will go for replacing punch-card voting equipment and training poll workers to avoid what happened in the presidential election. "Florida has moved on and America has moved on," she said. "We've got a president with incredibly high ratings now." The governor also is running substantially ahead of Democratic challengers in Florida polls. Baldwin is a board member of People for the American Way, a liberal lobbying group that sponsored the two-day observation of the second anniversary of a mass march on Tallahassee. The march protested the governor's 1999 executive orders that supplanted affirmative action in university admissions and state contracting. As in a rally at St. Mary's Primitive Baptist Church on Wednesday night, speakers at the FAMU prayer breakfast focused more on the disputed 2000 presidential election than the One Florida protests they were commemorating. Baldwin and other speakers warned that voters will face new challenges this year because legislative and congressional redistricting is changing political boundaries. He said the White House and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, along with the governor and other Republican leaders, are banking on the news media and voters staying distracted by the war on terrorism. "When Donald Rumsfeld and the Pentagon spokespeople say to you, 'Well, this is going to be a long war, we're going to be in Afghanistan for the long haul,' what that euphemism means is that the moratorium on criticizing the government must be extended longer and longer and longer - ideally, beyond the 2002 election," Baldwin said. |
|
(cont.)
Participants in the rally and prayer breakfast included Sen. Kendrick Meek, D-Miami, and former Rep. Tony Hill of Jacksonville. The two staged a sit-in at the lieutenant governor's office Jan. 18-19, 2000, demanding to see Bush about One Florida. The sit-in led to a March 7 march of about 12,000 protesters on the Capitol and a voter-registration drive that boosted black turnout by about 65 percent in the presidential election. Meek said the governor could be in trouble if people "remember in November" what happened two years ago. "It's like a hurricane, starting like a tropical storm and going to Category 1, Category 2," Meek said. "That's what I feel is coming in November. In this upcoming election, for the first time in state history, we're going to make sure everyone's vote is counted." Do any of the more computer literate/searching members have an email address for this idiot? I would like to give him a verbal kick in the ass, not that it would do any good.

Good news! He hasn't moved yet but I hear he's getting his s**t packed even as we speak.

It spites me that that sack of shytte was chosen to play The Shadow. Ol' Lamont Cranston was one of the kewlest characters ever, and deserved better from casting.

Guys, Guys.....
Alec Baldwin is just upset because he doesn't have a desk of his own underneth a demon crat's desk who likes his pole smoked. What Im trying to say is he likes to give blowjobs to bill Klinton (still to this day)and was really looking forward to pursuing Gore's pole. Just give him something to suck on and he will shut up. |

Alec Baldwin is a twit and a socialist...he's also a wife beater and a philanderer. What a role model for America...just what the democrats want actually, a lot like Teddy K.
The problem is that people WILL listen to him, just like they listen to Richard Gere and the hundreds of other mostly brain dead actors who insist on spouting off about political issues that they know nothing about. (Whew long sentence that.) The reason for this is simple...most Americans seem to have a difficult time seperating the actor from the role he or she plays. Richard Gere always tries to play characters that are smart, moral and courageous or at least likeable. Of course anyone who has ever heard him speak knows that he is a moron. Same for John Travolta and Tom Cruise...how do you lend credence to anything these idiots say when they follow a spaceship religion thought up by a science fiction writer who died years before his followers released that information to the public and whose entire resume is packed with falsehood. L. Ron Hubbard even falsified his DD214 to include multiple commendations he never received for combat actions that never took place and commands he never held. Anyone who could follow such a man and his "religion" (Scientology) are gullible morons of the highest order. And yet so many Americans, especially young Americans and folks of indifferent education follow these beautiful people like their celebrity has somehow granted them the wisdom and experience to understand things that take real statespeople LIFETIMES to learn. It's the democratic/liberal politics of emotion. It is a selfish, self-centered viewpoint masquerading under the delusion of altruism. It is an insidious evil...the evil that though foul, seems fair. Of course Baldwin is just ticked off that his candidate lost (in ALL recounts and analyses conducted during the recount and since.) I'll bet dollars to donuts that Gore had promised him a juicy little role in the government. Nothing substantive, but with enough exposure to give Baldwin a leg up in his pursuit of elected office. What a turkey, and I agree that his casting in The Shadow is a bit of a travesty...The Shadow (who wasn't actually Lamont Cranston, that was just an identity he borrowed from time to time) knew how to deal with evil and corruption. Even more insulting is his casting as Jack Ryan in The Hunt for Red October. The character of Jack Ryan stands against everything Baldwin is. He is a strict constructionist, a capitalist, a man of unbending principles even at the cost of his own skin and reputation, a faithful husband and father, and a skilled and thoughtful statesman and a Marine. Too bad there are so few real politicians of that caliber. Jack Ryan would have little good to say about Alec Baldwin were he real, and I bet Tom Clancy doesn't have a lot good to say about Baldwin either. |

I just don't get it. In EVERY single recount Algore lost. Every one. If Dan Rather had kept his mouth shut for another miserable hour that night, the people in the Florida panhandle (heavily republican) wouldn't have turned around on their way to the poles when the idiot announced Algore was the winner. Then GWB would've won the popular vote too. That would've effectively silenced these "... but Al won the popular vote!" yo-yo's. Maybe then these clowns like Baldwin and Striesand and the rest of their Hollywood buddies would shut up.

I also have to agree that him playing Jack Ryan really makes me want to vomit. That guy is as so unlike Ryan as a person can get. Of course, Aflac's playing Ryan in the next movie, which is almost as bad..... I think it's particularly funny that Baldwin actually thinks anyone gives a rat's nether region about what he thinks. Especially when he is giving his opinion of a great American like George W. Bush. |

It was sickening to see him portray Doolittle in Pearl Harbor. Baldwin isn't good enough to lick Jimmy D's sweaty nutsack. Alec disgusts me.

Back in June of 2001 there was a book that came out that I bought and read called AT Any Cost, How Al Gore Tried To Steal The Election. It was written by White House correspondent Bill Sammon. It goes into great detail on how good ol Al Gore tried to destroy American Democrocy, not President Bush or any one else from the republican party. It is kinda funny how people are such idoits and will believe just about anything without doing a little research and trying to find out the truth. Anyway the book is a good read. I also picked up a book called: Absolute Power, The legacy of Corruption in the Clinton-Reno Justice Department. That book was pretty interesting. It goes into great detail about the Waco incident, all of the campaing finance corruption, and the Monica issue as well. I just cant believe people still think that /bill clinton, hillary clinton/gore/reno were and still are integral people. Just the information in these two books alone should be enough to put all four people away in jail for many lifetimes over. Sick Sick Sick, just makes me Sick.

MinuteMan3,
I've read both books that you mentioned and couldn't agree more. They are a part of my permanent library. Another "required" read is Bernie Goldberg's "BIAS". He explains why the media/Hollywood continue to spew their liberal blather under the guise of "mainstream America." They actually believe that they are the voice of moderate, thinking, and correct America, and conversely, think anyone who disagrees with their "correct" ideas must be a right-wing-nut. Unbelievable! |

Dateline Tinseltown, USA -- Attention-starved midget actor Alec Baldwin tried to one-up the stupidest member of the Bush clan, Jeb, over some such thing or other. Baldwin, 51, best known for loudly berating his former DNA receptacle Kim Basinger at Easthampton eateries, first came to public prominence by not going on a crack-fueled hotel room-destroying rampage a la brother Daniel at the Plaza. Falling-backwards-into-shiat-lucky Alec had the Tom Clancy franchise all but handed to him with The Hunt for Red October. An overfondness for Incan Warrior Courage Dust led the twenty angstrom tall rock hustler to blow that gig, consigning him to a series of diminishing film roles culminating in body-doubling Ron Jeremy's back hair in "The Hedgehog's Log." "I never said I would leave the country if Bush won" prattled Baldwin, offering this interviewer manual release for a favorable interview (declined!!!). "I said I would continue to shrink until I disappeared from view. Let's get the record straight." Blustergut Baldwin can be seen in David Lynch's controversial straight-to-video MicroPenis in May. |

"What was so weird," says the tipster, "was to see a celebrity acting
like a maniac." As far as we're concerned, that never loses its charm. Alec Baldwin's Really Wireless Alec Baldwin has finally managed to attract an audience. The actor recently gave a performance on Lafayette Street worthy of a true Hollywood diva, reports a witness, in which he feverishly destroyed his cell phone before a crowd of horrified onlookers. For reasons unbeknownst to us, Baldwin commenced the hissy fit by throwing the offending device against a wall. Not satisfied, the source says, Baldwin proceeded to stomp it with his tasteful brown shoes, bellowing, "Fuck! Shit! Fuck!" Says the witness, "People were literally backing away from him. It was like, 'Okay, this man is clearly insane.' " Fortunately for those watching the crusading thespian's curbside antics, Baldwin's fury rained down only upon his phone. Having rendered the communicator harmless, Baldwin -- whose rep did not return repeated calls -- picked up the pieces and quietly walked away. Quoted: Folks, we are seeing Hitler's "Big Lie" strategy in action: Tell a big lie over and over again, and pretty soon more and more people will start believing it. View Quote Umm...hate to burst your bubble here, but calling it "Hitler's "Big Lie" strategy" is misleading at best and outright lying at worst. Have you ever actually read the quote you're so casually throwing around here? He wasn't advocating the use of it, which is quite obvious...of course, you'd have to actually read it to realize that. It just sounds like something he would say, right? By the way, what you're describing isn't even what Hitler was talking about. He was talking about the magnitude of the lie, not the amount of times it's told. "It required the whole bottomless falsehood of the Jews and their Marxist fighting organization to lay the blame for the collapse on that very man who alone, with superhuman energy and will power, tried to prevent the catastrophe he foresaw and save the nation from its time of deepest humiliation and disgrace. By branding Ludendorff as guilty for the loss of the World War they took the weapon of moral right from the one dangerous accuser who could have risen against the traitors to the fatherland. In this they proceeded on the sound principle that the magnitude of a lie always contains a certain factor of credibility, since the great masses of the people in the very bottom of their hearts tend to be corrupted rather than consciously and purposely evil, and that, therefore, in view of the primitive simplicity of their minds they more easily fall a victim to a big lie than to a little one, since they themselves lie in little things, but would be ashamed of lies that were too big. Such a falsehood will never enter their heads and they will not be able to believe in the possibility of such monstrous effrontery and infamous misrepresentation in others; yes, even when enlightened on the subject, they will long doubt and waver, and continue to accept at least one of these causes as true. Therefore, something of even the most insolent lie will always remain and stick - a fact which all the great lie-virtuosi and lying-clubs in this world know only too well and also make the most treacherous use of." From Volume One, Chapter X of Mein Kampf. |
