Now most gun laws do not affect politicans in Chicago, most, if not all are reserve CPD. They can pack with impunity. c-rock CHICAGO -- Ald. Leonard DeVille (21st) was attacked in what was apparently a robbery attempt outside his South Side home early Tuesday, police said. A suspect is being questioned, but no charges had been filed as of late Tuesday. DeVille was about to drive away from his home in the 9200 block of South Laflin Street at 6:40 a.m. when a man opened the driver's-side door and demanded money, said police spokesman Carlos Herrera. The alderman told police he got out of the car and struggled with the man, who swung at him with a thin metal object, the spokesman said. The man got in DeVille's car but the alderman pulled him out, Herrera said, and the assailant ran away. The alderman, 67, was not injured. A Calumet Area detective who declined to give his name confirmed DeVille had picked a suspect out of a lineup.
