As much as I think he is a douche bag and a freaking idiot, I DON'T think he would be a terrorist, I am so sick of the f***ing airport security doing a crap job, they probably let some long bearded guy with a turbin on and pulled Gore aside.

I don't know about that. This is a guy who thought that suing because he didn't like election results was a good idea. Anyone whose view of our society is that twisted is capable of anything. Maybe not likely to blow up a plane to make a statement (like "wah, i'm a crybaby"), but he might think he deserves special treatment and can carry nail clippers on a plane. Clearly, he must be put in his place. [:)]

Letting certain types go by. HAve you seen some of the security people or, in many cases, tried to communicate with them? Should be no surprise.

He is now a private citizen, but I would have hoped the screeners would have shown some common sense. Then again, the administration that he was a part of was known for thinking that laws only applied to other people...

No, VP's do not get secret service protection for life - six months to a year is average. Former presidents and their spouses get it for life, at least they did. There was a move to change that and Clinton might be the first not to. Its up to Congress since they are the ones who authorize it through the budget lines for the Treasury Department. IMO, ALL former presidents should have it for life. Imagine the feather in tha hat of some scum bag terrorist who managed to get to one. As much as we may not like them, it speaks poorly of us as a nation if we allow harm to come their way.

The incident was probably posturing for some "Good PR" (hey were taling about it arent we - WE treat everyone the same!). Here is a does of reality - A cop buddy of mine from our Gun Club who is working an airport detail said we removed his duty gear etc and walked through the metal detector at the airport (testing the security system) - and got a clean bill of health after passing thru - he then pulled up his pant leg after putting all his gear on and asked the airport security guard why the S&W 357 Scandium back up on his ankle didnt set the detector off? "You should have seen the dumdass deer in the headlights looks on their faces - scary huh? Thanks God he is one of the good guys!!!!
