This little guy is so cool, loveable, and well behaved. His previous owner called him Huckleberry but I'm not a fan.

If he's not a pup, then name him something that sounds close to what the original owner called him.

Most dogs are smart enough to know their own name.

A change will confuse him if he's used to it.

One of mine has a different name than the one he had when he was little.  We got him from the pound.  Named a list of dog names one night and we found it.  Still only use our pick.

As someone in the pet retail industry, that is so fucking overused. Chance is another one, because they got a second chance.

Seriously, avoid cliche shit, pick a name that fits the dogs behavior.

My little guy I got out of a puppy mill I originally named Buster, because he got busted out. Literally, by a cop raid.

Now, he answers to Little Nut. Got that one from my brother, who watched him hump my GSD one night and said, "If he busts a nut, it'll be a little nut."

Buster's 7 pounds of fury and sexual aggression against my GSD, so Little Nut fits.
