I want to first fend off any flames or trolls on the bumpfire subject. This is not intended to be an opinion thread. I have my opinion on bumpfiring and yes I do bumpfire my AR on occasion (thanks to SwingSet's plan).
I'm interested in everyone's educated info on the the best guns in each category to bumpfire effectively. 1. Centerfire Rifle 2. Rimfire Rifle 3. Shotgun 4. Centerfire Pistol 5. Rimfire Pistol WHAT SAY YE? |
then what is this about? |
7.62 Ak with Red Star Arms trigger group. No contest. I can bump it from the shoulder Disconnector |
I can bump my 5.45 Bulgarian AK74 with Tapco G2 trigger very easily.
I can't bump my AR for crap though. RRA single stage trigger |
If you need to use a "helper" (from swingset's neat thing), you might wanna skip the handguns. At least one member has damn near blown his head off bumping a handgun. |
I understand that totally. And thanks for looking out for safety. I just remember seeing a vid of a guy on here bumping the crap out of a Calico .22 pistol. |
I just don't need to know other's opinions about whether bumpfiring is a waste of ammo, inherently dangerous, inaccurate.... you know the rest. I know what it can and can't do already. I'm just a poor white boy looking for some simulated full-auto fun in the best guns for the job. That's all. |

The lighter the gun and trigger pull, the better it will bump. The bump-firing-est gun I have ever seen is the Bushy Carbon-15. It's as easy to bump as you could care to, but the cyclic rate is WAYYYY fast, probably faster than an M16.
The HK USC .45 is a runner up. It's got this wierd springy trigger that will double and triple with a light firing grip if you aren't careful. Dave |
It can be done... You also see vids of guys doing 100/100 doubles in clays with a pump action, doesn't mean it is easy. |

AR-15 or a good AK variant.
Ruger 10/22.
Without doubt, a Benelli semi-auto shotgun. You have no idea how fast those things cycle. I have a picture somewhere of me bumping one from the shoulder where you can see 4 shells in the air while the fifth shot is being fired. They are faster than any other shotgun out there.
Beretta 9mm's work pretty well for it.
Ruger MKII

my buddy bumped my M1 Carbine like it was made to do it.
but then again, he could bump a crossbow if he wanted to |

I've bunped my Ar, Fal, and one of my .45s
I can try to do my Win. pump shotty next time I'm out with it |

Any semi auto shotgun or rifle!
I've never gotten a .22 lr to do it though =( I can do AR's and AK's from the shoulder..but no .22 |
With Swingset's shoulder fired bump device, my SAR 3 with Red Star FCG can be emptied in a few seconds.
SKS
10/22 with a 2lb Volquartsen trigger. As long as the butler creek mags will feed I can run through them in a few seconds. |
Yeah, the handgun is not the greatest choice.
I am probably not the one that nearly blew my head off. But, when I tried it, muzzle climb was a little shocking... TRG |
I had fun bumping 30 rounders with an AR/w rra single stage. |

If you have never bumped a Benelli, you are missing something spectacular. They cycle so fast that you can literally fire 3 rounds in around one second. I discovered this when shooting clays with a Benelli Legacy shotgun in 12 guage. I was breaking the shotgun in and decided to fire 5 rounds as fast as possible. I deliberately fired the first two shots fast, but the last three the gun seemed to just go full-auto on me because of the speed with which the gun fired. It felt almost exactly like a the gun was just burping out shells as quickly as possible. It really did feel like full auto, which I never thought possible in a shotgun. I find the Glock more difficult to bump because of the jerky nature of its trigger. For real merriment, try two Beretta 92 pistols with extended capacity magazines and custom light SA triggers. |

The best way to bumpfire is by yourself for giggles, because if you have newbie shooters with you they will want to try it too, despite the fact that they cannot do it safely.... |

I own this CETME, bought it from a certain ghey member from Texas, which bumpfires .308 like mad. It's the shizzle, even with the crappy stock trigger. My SAR-1 with G2 trigger is a close second.
What is this bumpfiring thing y'all speak of? Sounds like fun
It was my favorite bumper. I nearly kept it, just because it was such a sewing machine. TRG |
I can bumpfire my Bushmaster M4gery with ease. I have never tried from the shoulder, but I don't think it would be much more difficult. Next time I'm out i'll try from the shoulder.

Come on Rick, you are the KING!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Benelli M1S90's are recoil operated and will not bump for crap.
I've easiest pistol was a 9mm Astra Star 1911 knock off. It was so cool. I've bumped my SW MP5 clone, FAL, MAK 90, Colt 1911, AR's in 16 and 20". I've seen an semi BAR done as well as an M1 Garand. I suppose a Grock would be okay with a light trigger/disconnect.... |
Yup! Blackfox decided to see if he could do it. It was pretty funny to watch. |
I've seen different techniques for bumping rifles, but I can't picture how to bump a 1911. How the heck do you do that?
My sig p228 will double and triple every once in a while, if you hold it right. Other than that, I can't picture how one would bump fire a pistol....details please?
I've got the video somewhere on my puter... |

You just showed your intelligence. Carry on. |
Basically a "controlled Pivot" at the the trigger group. (using bottom of grip for control and pull) You need to be extremely careful of muzzle climb, otherwise the 7th round will be in your chin. |
+1! I've got a Bill Springfield trigger on mine, it's the shiznit with a 30 rnder. |
IMO, the best gun to bupfire is the 9mm AR
I can't keep from bumpin' it! |
RIGHT! You're from Kentucky, and you Bumpfire! What else needs to be said, Jethro? |
+1 for a description of the previously mentioned bumpfire device.
Rem 1100...
I can't bump mine, agghhhhh. But I could bump my High Standard Supermatic. Tried it back in the mid 60's and it worked. |
I "outran" a 16 with MrsG's 9mm AR at Gunstock '03 It had a nice trigger and just rolled off, fast as Gloftoe's UZI. |
