In this thread, we will discuss one of our Presidents - Ronald Reagan.

As this thread is in the spirit of greatness, we will not mention the "O-word."  Nor will we respond harshly to the inevitable ill-informed troll who will try to upset a thread about a great man.  Again, we will not mention the "O-word or respond to the trolls.

...and with that in mind, I now present our first post about a man that most will look back on fondly:

I'm sorry I have to break the rules so quick but....every one of those points Reagan made could be used against Obama today. Every single one!

Fantastic book!  It's the SOP manual of how to be a President day by fucking day!

I couldn't put it down.

The man who, out of respect, would not take his suit jacket off in while in the oval office.

My hero. When Hezbollah blew up my friend along with 242 other brothers, Ronnie fixed 'em good and invaded Grenada.

Notice how the news media used to color Republican won states as blue and Democrat won states as red?

I wonder why the news media swapped???

+1.

My first Commander-in-Chief as well.

At the time, I really didn't appreciate how well I had it.

Great man.

Thanks for posting this thread.

I was born in '75, and one of my clearest memories as a kid was doing Nuke Attack drills in school, lining up against the wall, heads down, and so on. But at night we'd watch our President on TV, and everyone genuinely believed that he would stop the tide of communism, and he did. We slept at night confident that our President would keep our biggest fears from coming true.

Ronald Reagan was a gift and a blessing to our nation, and I'm very sad to sit here and think how far we've fallen.

It was dark before Ronald Reagan brightened up the scene as well.  Periodically, we as a nation do this to ourselves.

We'll right ourselves (again) at some point.

Got to meet Pres. Reagan twice while stationed at Ft. Bragg. He always had a story about your state when he visited it. An amazing man and a truly great American.

As someone who wasn't living under Reagan's presidency, what are some policies he enacted that were so great? I'm aware of the basic premise of Reaganomics and that the average wages rose, but I'm also aware that public debt increased as well. Can someone please explain it to me?

He was a good one.

He did a lot to unshackle the economy by reducing government regulation.

He lowered taxes and tamed inflation.

The reason you can order ammunition by mail today?  Ronald Reagan.

He stared down the Soviet evil and made them blink.

Most importantly, he made the American people believe in America again.

Both of these statements fit me, too.

I was PROUD to be in "Reagan's" Army.

If the big spenders get their way, they’ll charge everything on your “taxpayer’s Express” Card.  And believe me, they never leave home without it.
