Okay:

There are 7 boys on a bus,
Each boy has 7 bags,
Each bag has 7 cats,
Each cat has 7 little cats, (I assume kittens, she isn't a native English speaker)
Each cat has 4 legs

How many legs are there?

The number is the password to an excel document she sent me.

I tried multiplying everything by 7 and adding 14 (because of hte Boy's legs) but that didin't work, the number I got was 9618.

The asnwer is 10,992, got to count the driver.

This is what was in the document:

It's just the problem and how to solve it. And some wierd names and dates.

10990

1 Boy = 2 legs
7 bags
49 cats = 196 legs
343 kittens = 1372 legs

= 1570 legs/boy

* 7 = 10990 legs

1582?

So in each bag there are 7 cats and 49 kittens. Times 7 bags * 4 legs. Add in the 7 boys with 2 legs.

boys - 7 x 2 = 14 legs
cats - 7 x 7 x 7 x 4 = 1,372 legs
kittens - 7 x 7 x 7 x 7 x 4 = 9,604 legs

Total legs = 10,990 ?

Nope, none of those numbers are opening the document.

I'm beginning the think something got lost in the translation.

0 because a bus doesn't have legs was sounding so clever it must be right, but it didn't. 4 (for the tires) didn't work either.

She's from Argentina, if anyone has heard it there?

ETA: It was Diehard 3 not 2 That's what it reminded me of.

Doh, I missed a 7. 10,990 if you only count kids and cats. If you count the driver, that's another 2.

It says nothing about the kittens being in the bags with the cats.
Link Posted: 12/4/2007 11:35:23 AM EDT
There was no mention of the bus being under the control of any type of operator. She cheated and must be made an example of. You know what to do.

I doubt he did, and I doubt he will now.
Link Posted: 12/4/2007 11:43:57 AM EDT
10,990 is the correct answer, assuming the boys have two legs as this was not specified.

There was also no mention of a driver, or that the bus was even in motion so you can't even assume a driver.

I agree, and example must be made of her.
