I love metric chops. But this one is fucking garbage, and dangerous.
They keep growing in popularity, and these backyard "fabricators" get worse and worse every month, it seems. I'm all for building your own shit, even ugly budget builds. But some of these morons are going to be removed from the gene pool by riding unsafe trash like this, and they deserve it. |
|
Come on what happened to live and let live ?? Freedom the open road , the wind in your hair , the ringing in your ears , oil fires while doing 70, where is your sense of adventure ???

I've been bike-less for about 7 years. I don't even know what metric choppers are? I've always been a fan of the bobber style. I had a Suzuki Savage "Thumper" that I was going to play with but then sold it for a 1974 Blazer. |

I saw this bike over @ ChopCult a while back.
OP - you feel inadequate much? MYOFB. Also, you seem to have never seen a foot-clutch jockey shift. Sorry that you're not manly enough to ride a bike that doesn't run like a Hondamatic. That dude obviously doesn't give a fuck like you do, and rides what he wants. Good on him. |

Yamaha's are popular platforms (the XS650) to modify because they are/were cheap and easy to come by. |

What a piece of shit. My harley boots and chaps cost more than that bike.
|
|
You had me at Bisbee, ain't nothing 'right' in that town.
I grew up around bikers and their choppers back in the 70's. Those were some fucked up machines. Most of that backyard engineering and fabrication was wonky as fuck, but a few guys were doing some neat shit. This is relatively mild in comparison. That exhaust is pretty insane stupid. The 60csx really does handle everything Arizona can throw at it, even though mine is getting cracks in the rubber trim. |

Quoted: how dare him... not ride a cookie cutter softail...... Dude can do whatever he wants, but people with no welding/fabrication skill that build dangerous bikes make everybody else look bad. You already get hassled by cops for riding a bare bones, chopped up bike. When they start failing all over the place and causing accidents/fatalities, they're gonna crack down and ruin everyone else's fun. Like I said.. I love budget chops and bobs. But be safe at least.

Backyard hardtails have been around for a LONG, LONG time - sometimes they come loose and you end up dragging ass down teh freeway. They can do whatever they like IMO, but they haven't cracked down on it in 40 years, so I doubt this dude is going to be the reason they start tomorrow. |

I'd rather be caught riding the bike above than be caught wearing Harley Davidson boots and chaps... |

I agree. I have no trouble with the style of the bike, its just the welds are pretty damned awful. |

Lol holy fuck, it's like the Beverly Hillbillies made a motorcycle jalopy! That is amazingly horrible.

I really don't give a shit what he wants to ride, he's on two wheels and probly doesn't give a shit what people think of his bike. I'd bet he piles more miles on that bike in a year then the average yuppy rides in a lifetime.

The lack of any air filter in the Arizona desert makes the muffler problem an eventual self correcting problem. First thing I look at on any custom machine.........weld quality. If a man can't lay down a nice bead it only goes downhill from there. |

As long as the welds are good, I would ride it and not give a damn what anyone said.

I wonder what the shit talkers have ever built? Yeah, I'm not going to lie...that was my first thought, too. Good on the guy for going with his own thing. Hopefully he learned a little something, and his next build will be a little better. You guys think this thing is bad, you should have seen the '66 Mustang I had in high school that I tried to "hot rod" myself. |

Those exhaust pipes are almost angled to be intakes..angle aside, who doesnt like their exhaust to blast directly onto them?
When that bike get dropped, the piped might stick dig in and fasten it to the road. Those welds might hold, but they look like shit. No airbox or filters.. good thing its not dusty in AZ. ETA- I havent built shit, doesnt change a thing. If I did build one and it looked like shit, it still wouldnt change anything regarding this chop job, there would just be another bike that looked like shit parked somewhere. I like rat rods, primitive simple machines and mad max looking rides made out of scraps, this one just has some issues. |

Wow, I bet he owns it outright, unlike every Imperial cruiser owner I know...
I like it. I want a rat rod, and a rat bike. |

Looks like it was built by a 7th grade shop class. Nice welds.......
