My mom has been sick and what we thought was the flu, might turn out to be something else. We don't know what yet, but will find out soon.
Please think of her in your prayers. Her name is Polly. Thanks guys..... Michael |

Consider it done. Let's just hope it's a case of the crud that's been going around.
|

Certainly will. My wife and I will do just that when the last of the boys is in bed.

DonR...thanks for the thoughts and I wish it was the crud, but we're pretty sure it isn't.

She is at the hospital right now having some tests done. Both of my sisters are up there and told me to just stay home with the kids and they are letting me know what is going on with cell phone updates.
I only live about 5 minutes from the hospital she is at, so I'm going to go up there as soon as I can have a chance to see her. I'll keep yall updated as I find stuff out. Thanks again for all of the thoughts and prayers. |

Prayers out to your Mom & Family.. Hope all turns out OK. Keep us posted.

Well, here is what we know so far. She has some type of intestinal blockage but they aren't sure what is causing it. She was extremely dehydrated and low on sodium and magnesium which she is getting through an IV now. She has a tube going down her nose to drain her stomach of any contents and right now is going through a CAT scan. The Dr. said there is probably a 75% probability that she will need surgery to correct the problem which worries me because of her age and the weakened condition she is in right now. She has been pretty sick for about a week, but is stubborn and wouldn't go to the doctor until she couldn't stand it anymore, kind of like me.
I just got back a little while ago and I'm about to go back, so I'll let yall know anything else. Thanks again for being here. I'm just surfing and playing with the kids trying to act happy. |

My Mom spent 4 days in the ICU last month, so I know what your going through. My prayers are with you, just hope I didn't use up all my credits already. Hope she gets well soon.

Count on my support also. I hope the family can help each other out on this as well as helping your Mother. Take care!

Good luck Ponymom, I'm sure everything will be fine , Wolfpack

Last night they told us that the has a small tear in her lower intestine that will require surgery to correct. Because she was so dehydrated and her electrolytes and several other things were so low and because she is so weak right now, they will probably not do the surgery until Tuesday and are giving her antibiotics to try and prevent any infection.
I'll probably be up there quite a bit, but I'll give any updates when I get a chance. Thanks again guys.... |

As awful as the diagnosis and treatment sound, this is actually good news as it is treatable vs. something less treatable like cancer or a big bad virus. I'm praying for her, you and your family to pull through this without complication or problem. God bless.

I had this happen to me , it is called diverticulitus (spelling), intestinal sugery is not pleasant and the recoup can be long but she will recover 100 %. you are lucky she went in as this can cause a bad infection the longer it goes untreated, as mine did.

My thoughts and prayers are with your Mom, you family, and you.
Best wishes. Tyler |

Prayers are on the way. If she is in WNJ I know they have some very good doctors there and some outstanding nurses. Good luck.

Ok guys...she ended up having the surgery yesterday morning. After searching they couldn't find the hole in her intestine and they assume that it had healed on it's own. Apparently she had been feeling pretty bad for a while but didn't tell anybody, because she hates hospitals, and there was a large pocket of puss and other crap in her stomach that needed to be removed. She has a cut from the bottom of her sternum to the top of her pelvic bone and has an epidural right now so that it isn't painful for her to breathe. They expect her to remain in ICU for the remained of today and hopefully in her own room tomorrow if everything goes well.
She looks a lot better even with all of the tubes up her nose and down her throat and comming from everywhere else. I finally got some decent sleep last night for the first time in several days. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers and hopefully things will go smoothly from here on out and she will be out in about a week. -03 Shooter- Yes she is at WNJ. My sister is a director at TMC and knows all of the doctors so we usually pick and choose and the hospital we go to is usually dependant upon who is on call at the time. Her dr. is Shrunk (not sure if I spelled that right). |
|
Hope she has a speedy recovery and gets home soon. I have been saying a prayer since I started reading the post. Also get some more sleep or you might be in the bed next to her.

Is there an update on this? Prayers have been going on since yesterday.....

Quoted: Is there an update on this? Prayers have been going on since yesterday..... View Quote satcong....my update is to posts above yours. I posted it this morning as I was too tired last night when I got home. I just got back at about 1:30 this afternoon and everything is about the same. She is still mostly sleeping and not really fully aware of what is going on yet, but we were told that was to be expected. My sisters and dad and my mom's sister are still up at the hospital sitting there, but because we can't go back in to see her until 5pm I decided to come home. I live less than 5 minutes away anyways. There is a small possibility that she could get moved from ICU to MICU this afternoon/evening. Personally, I'm still worried about infection and her breathing and everything else, but I think I'm just worrying myself because it's my mom. I'll feel a lot better when she's more awake and aware of what is going on. Thanks again for all of the prayers and thoughts. I really appreciate all of yalls kindness. Michael |

I would like to thank all of you for your prayers and support.
I just got back from the hospital and my mom is doing much better. She was completely taken off of her epidural today and got out of bed for the first time since her surgery. There are still no signs of infection but she is still in a lot of pain. Her incision runs from her sternum to the top of her pelvic bone. Hopefully she will be out of the hospital in four to five days. I never realized how scary it is when you think you could possibly lose your mom. Thanks again guys...... |

Get some rest. This has been a long haul for you. Glad to hear things went well and she is recovering. Great news!
