Right now Pepsi is holding a contest for grants for ideas to help communities, these grants range from 5k to 50k. A lot of these are very good ideas, and some of them seem to me like not so good ideas.
Currently there is one in the 50k grant contest by The Ambucs of America.
Ambuc's is a national charity organization geared towards helping disabled people while also helping with many community projects. For example, the local chapter is very good at building wheel chair ramps, and has modular temporary ramps, that if called can have a ramp up at someones home after an accident that leaves them even temporarily wheel chair bound, by the time they have made it home from the hospital. As a whole The Ambucs are have a Scholriship program for students attending school to be Physical Therapist.
The purpose of this grant is to help increase awareness of an item called the Amtryke. and donate 100 of them to disabled children. The Amtryke is a thearputic tricycle that can be be powered by the arms or the legs allowing disabled children to build up muscle strength as well as have the joy of getting to do something they missed out on.
I regularly attend Ambuc events and give to the organization, the last major event that I attended the Ambucs gave out an Amtryke to a wheelchair bound girl. She spent the rest of the night riding the Amtryke around with the biggest smile on her face I have ever seen on a child.
This contest won't cost you a thing all I am hopeing is for you to vote for it, you can even put it up on your facebook page to help get votes.
