Bad accident on the bridge just at the end of my property.
No passing zone, looks like he was passing someone and got an SUV head on. They had to cut what was left of him out of the car. Other driver bleeding but mobile. No pics. I'm sure nobody has been notified yet. Slow down people. That minute or so you save is not worth eternity. 
South end of bridge, east side, just at the start of the curve. |

I remember when I was a crazy , invincible teenager I would pass cars on the incline of a bridge, right before the peak. Looking back I realize how lucky I am to be walking today.

I still remember an accident that happened out my way about 15 years ago, kid just got out of high school for the day and killed himself, his step sister, his girlfriend and the poor schmuck who was moving out of the county because he crossed a double yellow in his brand new Mustang to pass a friend (playing leapfrog, they called it)

Who knows what really happened. I've started a perfectly safe pass a dozen times over the years but the car I was passing thought he was king of the road and sped up to keep me in opposing traffic. It's usually an old man.
I have a dash cam now so if it happens again I can post video. |

I can never quite figure out why some people are so dead set on passing when I'm already going five over, and all they're going to do is get stuck at a light a few miles down the road. If they were actually in a hurry for something important they'd just run the light, so as far as I can tell they're just being idiots. Similarly, people who speed up while being passed need to be slapped. A lot of the dumber people seem to do it because they are too dumb to pay enough attention to maintain speed, and seeing someone pass them snaps them back to reality... at which point they don't think about what they're actually doing. |

Some dumb shit killed himself and a friend out my way about a couple months ago. 120 mph on a twisty road at 3am cut the car in half with a utility pole. And his dumb shit friends put a jegs sticker on the replacement pole, I'm tempted to put a Darwin fish up.

Around here, the bridge over the James River is sometimes the only safe spot to pass a logging truck, or an over-length semi trying to shortcut through the mountains.
