I was raised with dogs, from coon hounds (some hard headed a holes) to retrievers (some smart but hard headed a holes).
There are very few things on this Earth that can take the place of a loyal and trustworthy companion on Four legs.

When I'm feeling down, he brings me a smile.
When I'm happy, he brings me joy.
When I'm pissed at the world, he's still my friend.
And he always has time for me with no questions.
He never ask for more than a touch, and never questions who I am.

Cats are cool, but NOTHING is ever as good as a dawg that's trained and loyal.

Heck, for the price of a bag of food and some attention, this guy would give up his life for me.

Here's to the best friend a guy could ask for!

dogs are the best and i couldn't imagine life without mine.  better friend than any human friend I've ever had, and not nearly as demanding as most people I know.

these days, by far the biggest enjoyment i get out of life is being out in the woods with my weim and just watching her do dog stuff....

My dogs are my salvation.

More than any woman or friend.

Hurt my dogs and you experience my wrath.

I've been there so many times, KV.

It's so hard, Bro.

Please stay strong and just remember, she will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

We get to pick Sally up from the animal hospital today. She has been there for 3 weeks. Tried to save her leg after the cancer surgery but things did not work out. We now have a 3 legged dog. We have been lost without her.

At least you still have her, DMK.

I'm really happy to hear that she is coming home! (three legs and all).

Dogs were the first domesticated animal (that is a genetic change, not to be confused with "tameness") and predates all other domesticated animals by eons.

We have a special relationship with them. I love my 3 beagles. The one is actually beagle/doxie mix and never leaves my side. She's really getting up there in age.

The middle one is laying on the bed looking through the window, monitoring the back yard.

Magnum the baby is my good little boy. He helps Lucy with the yard and snuggles with blue the elder, or one of the humans.

I used to have a place where I could let them trail, I have the gps tracking collars and everything. Lucy was relentless and would trail till she literally dropped. She will find any living thing in the yard and bark at it until I investigate.

If anyone harms my babies I will rain hell upon you and your offspring.

They were bred to be stubborn and not give up. Beagles are right behind them.

Oddly enough the best dog I had was some kind of coonhound mix. She loved her people family. She guarded the rabbits, helped my elderly mom to and from the bathroom, and was otherwise devoted to her family.

Rest in peace Hap. I'll see you soon.
