Clarence Tiller 51 years old.
Retired Navy Chief I went to High School with his brother. "T" was an apprentice of mine for a short while when he started at the company. Solid good guy who was in top-flight shape, worked out every day, stayed thin, ate right. In fact, he had a massive heart attack in the weight room at work during lunch hour after just finishing his daily workout. Was walking to the door to leave when he slumped over. His two long time workout partners did CPR on him until the paramedics arrived, but he died at the hospital. He will be missed. |

Man that sucks. Sorry to hear that.
A teacher at my kids elementary school died in the same way a few years ago. she was walking down the hall in the office at lunch time and just dropped to the floor. A few other teachers tried to revive her but she was gone. Now all the schools in the district have those automatic defibrillators. |

Sorry to hear that.
On the other side, thats the way to go. Just drop dead, no suffering, wasting away in a hospital. |
|
That sucks.
Lost my brother a little over a year ago to a sudden cardiac arythmia at 47 yrs old. He was running a work out with his cross country team and bam. Nurse was passing by in a car right when it happened and started CPR immediately, but he was gone already. R.I.P. |

Hope he went out like a light, and that his family comes through this alright. |
|
Sorry to hear that. You never know, alway live life to the fullest every single day, because you will never know.
|
|
Sorry man. It especially sucks when someone is staying in shape and trying to do the right things.

For many years this sailor has stood the watch
While some of us were in our bunks at night This sailor stood the watch While some of us were in school learning our trade This shipmate stood the watch Yes... even before some of us were born into this world This shipmate stood the watch In those years when the storm clouds of war were seen brewing on the horizon of history This shipmate stood the watch Many times he would cast an eye ashore and see his family standing there Needing his guidance and help Needing that hand to hold during those hard times But he still stood the watch He stood the watch for many years He stood the watch so that we, our families and Our fellow countrymen could sleep soundly in safety, Each and every night Knowing that a sailor stood the watch Today we are here to say 'Shipmate... the watch stands relieved Relieved by those You have trained ,guided, and lead Shipmate you stand relieved.. we have the watch..." "Boatswain..Standby to pipe the side...Shipmate's going Ashore.." Clarence Tiller, I wish you fair winds and following seas. RedBucket, CPO, USN, Retired. |

Sorry for your loss. My dad is also 51 years old and a retired navy chief. He had heart problems a couple years ago so this hits close to home.

Sorry for your loss.
I had a good friend die in similar circumstances when I was in the USAF 25 years ago. He was athletic, non-smoker, ate right (always gave me crap about eating hamburgers and mexican food) ran 5 miles a day, every day that duty permitted. he was a 28 year old captain, went out running one Sunday morning on base, dropped dead of a massive heart attack. Autopsy said he was dead before he hit the pavement. My dads best friend was 50, body builder, non-smoker, health food proponent, and very athletic. Went jogging one afternoon. had a massive heart attack, did not even make it to the hospital. Yet I see 70 year old heavy smokers, at least 100 pounds overweight at the doctors office, seemingly getting along fine. Does make you wonder. |

Some people are lucky and others are unlucky. Don't let unfortunate events undermine your commitments to staying healthy.
I wish you and his family the best. |
|
Just because you work out does not mean you don't have bad cholesterol. Ask me how I know.
Sorry about the loss. |

Just lost 2 friends this week. One had a stroke at 53 and one from an MI at 51. Really sucks.

Getting old sucks. here in 10-20 years i'm going to start seeing the same thing. Maybe my friends will. |

Fair winds and following seas Chief.. RIP
That being said, for those who die living life while eating right and exercising... Its not about living forever, as none of us mortals ever will do just that. Its about the "quality of life" .. not so much the quantity. Having lost a sibling to cancer years ago.. I know I will not live forever.. and may in fact keel over dead with no warning at all.. just because it was my time. But it is about having a high quality of life while I am alive. Feeling good ... feeling strong ... sleeping well. That is a life well spent to me. YMMV |

Sorry to hear.
When you say he was healthy, did he think he was, or did the dr tell him? I had a discussion with someone recently about those "full body scans". A husband of one of the girls at work dropped dead shoveling snow a couple of years ago. Everyone thaought he was healthy. He looked it. His wife thinks if he would have had a scan it might have shown something otherwise undetectable. |

Sounds like a good American was lost this morning. Our thoughts are with you, his family and others who were lucky enough to be his friends. God Bless.

Sorry to hear. It really sucks that someone dedicates themselves to staying fit and this happens.
