Watching the news today I saw Shane Kimbrough arriving at the ISS for a 4 month stint.

I was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield with him when he was an LT Apache pilot.

He is a West Point grad and I remember him as a good guy, well liked

Kinda cool to see somebody you know up in space! Had to tell my kids about it and how I knew him.

That is all.

That's very cool!

I'm also kind of disappointed that his name isn't Walowitz.

I'll tell my kids when they're born that I served in the Army at the same time as a guy that was on the ISS.

Always nice to have something to throw out there to perhaps interest your kids.

You never know what may motivate them to learn something new or take interest in something. They are 7 and 3 so they still think I'm cool anyway

Cool story OP! According to his NASA bio, he seems like a seriously squared away guy. Interesting that he was Captain of the West Point baseball team.

Don't laugh we have many members here that have been space shuttle door gunners to protect the ISS
